• Housesitting Wandina Geraldton 17th day

    11–12 nov. 2024, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

11/11/24 Wake up early this morning around 5.30am - realising that it's our last day with the dogs and housesitting here - as Sam and Alyse with their children are coming home today. They plan to be here mid afternoon. Roger gets up straight away to have his breakie, I decide to read until 6am. Once up, join Roger in starting our 'move back into our caravan and have a tidy, clean house ready for its owners' mode. I have a shower (enjoy my last use of this lovely ensuite bathroom) then start with stripping the bed and getting washing going. Roger is making sure the yard is all tidy, pool water OK etc. I have breakfast then we walk Annie and Benji 4.3km for our last time. Get back and continue our transition back to our caravan and leaving a clean tidy house. I make a batch of Anzac biscuits with my Thermomix for us to have on our travels. Roger vacuums and washes the floors. Once we're well in hand, we head off into Geraldton to do some shopping and I have 3 parcels to post- birthday gifts for Fiona Fitzgerald and Barb Purton and a baby shower gift for James and Sophie Tooley. Roger is after a fan part for our van fridge, and we want to restock basics for the family so we'll grocery shop before we return. We are going to have lunch too. Do all these things (grocery shop last) and get back to the housesit. I get the washing in from the line, and remake the bed etc. Roger sorts out our caravan fridge. We're now ready for the family's return. Roger relaxes reading, outside in the back yard with Annie and Benji relaxing with him. I just potter about in the caravan putting washing etc away. Family arrive around 3.30pm - they are so lovely, the dogs and children excited to be reunited. We stay out of the way by getting ourselves on the comfy seating at the front porch - drinks and books in hand. The family unpack and settle back home. We are invited to have tea with the family but we're happy and organised to leave them to do what they need to do. Our tea in our caravan, microwave pasta meals we got on special! Perfect after our big lunch out today. Apple for dessert. Roger showers (back in our caravan) and we relax until bedtime.
12/11/24 Tuesday. Leaving day...well enjoyed being back sleeping in our caravan bed so comfy and slept great. Wake up before 6am so decide I'm overdue a 'shuffle' as we're not having to walk the dogs now. I go for a 5km jog and get back around 7am. Roger has us all in hand to be leaving - so porridge is ready, we have our breakfast then I have a quick shower (back in our van) and get ready to leave too. We go and say our goodbyes to the Williamson family and their dogs. Lovely, lovely family for sure - offers all around to call back and catch up if they're our way too. We drive off at 8am - Horrocks is our planned next camping spot.
