• Yellowfields Volunteering - Parking

    Nov 15–16, 2024 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Roger and I - have 2 shifts working together at Yellowfields Music Festival. We are rostered on at P2 - Parking area 2 - which is allocated for caravans and larger RV's.
    Friday 15/11/ 24 12.30pm to 7.30pm
This shift we arrive earlier - abit after 12 noon, and we are 'relieved' earlier too - around 6pm.
On this shift we got to work with Toni, Lisa, Ky, Gerald and Leanne (at different times). Gerald, Leanne, and Fish were the ones to stay on after we finished.
    Saturday 16/11/24 Event Day 7am to 2pm.
This turns out to be a VERY quiet shift - we no longer have to use the portable scanner to scan campers tickets, all we have to do is sight their camp ticket, give them their green 'camping' wristband and park them in an orderly fashion in the paddock. We are surprised to find that there are only 3 more campers in here from when we finished at 6pm yesterday. It is just Rog and I to start off - and there's not really anything to do! Apart from try and help answer campers (already in the paddock) questions about the event. So it is total 'overload' to have Gerald and Leanne arrive at 9am to help us! The 4 of us just enjoy a sit down and a good chat, pretty much for the rest of the shift. Could count on one hand how many campers arrived in our section today (and most before 9am). Andrea and Jo - at different times - come and check how we're doing - they can see we're not up to much - so Jo makes the call, that we can all finish at 2pm - as Gerald and Leanne were rostered to 3.30pm. Happy days - we pack the check in area up just before 2pm, and Rog and I get a lift with Jerry and Leanne back to our caravan.
