Koonalda Homestead

We drove past the turnoff that goes to here (we've also missed checking out the great camping spot at road marker no. 52), we had to do a Uie and drive back until we find it (thanks Wiki Camps). Surprised that there's no sign out on the highway for it. There is a small sign to confirm that the Koonalda Homestead is 18km drive once you have turned down its road.
It's a rough gravel road so we take it steady to get there (and Rog opens our dust vents).
Once we get there, we park, and get out and enjoy a good wander around. Beaut day for it. Again, you can't help but admire the tenacity of folk who live and work in these remote areas. All gone from here now though - just us sticky beak campers coming in.
The poor old cars just left to rust - too much hassle to move or fix. These ones have been well 'picked over' - not a car badge to be found.もっと詳しく
