Our chosen free camping spot for tonight. It's known as the 'Head of the Bight' and is the place to come and watch the whales in the season May through to October. The gates that allow you access to the coast here are shut - as it's not the right time of year, but the camp area is open. There are already a couple of other campers (with caravans) settled in, so we select our spot - working out best positioning with the blustery wind that's happening - and settle in too.
Happy to relax inside our caravan - knowing tea is already sorted. Turns out that we needn't of worried about our vegetables etc - they were only checking people going into WA - not the ones leaving like us! We're abit 'thrown' with the change in time zones - we've 'lost' 2 and a half hours today. We have some cheese, biscuits and nibbles with our drinks. Then later - reheat some of Roger's sausage surprise casserole for our tea. I'm full enough to not need dessert, Roger has some banana and yoghurt. Roger has his shower, I do the dishes, we tidy up. Now relaxing before bedtime. Whoops - I read until 1.30am - the good book and the time change got me!
31/01/25 Friday. We get up at 7.30am have our breakie and get packed up and organised to go check out the Whale Watching Centre, just down the road from this campground.
