• Rail Spiral Lookout Bethungra

This is a amazing feat of engineering back in the 1940's - still very much in use today. A spiral roundabout with a tunnel built into the hill to reduce the steepness of the climb for the trains. There is another couple here having a look too - and we're all wondering if we might be lucky enough to see a train come through using this loop today....? The lady googles for us - apparently there's a train coming around 2.30pm. Well we'll wait around for that! Though Roger decides we've got time to drive and checkout the nearby dam first. So we do, and return in good time to see the train come out of the tunnel, then shortly after cross over the top of the same tunnel. Glad we got to see it happen. Now we'll go back to our camp.Read more
