As soon as we arrive we're both sure we'll camp here! We just pull up and park so we can go for a walk to suss out our campsite options. Yay - where we've walked into, Roger should be able to get the caravan in (turns out it was a tight squeeze to turn around) - he does and we're both in agreement on the site too! Just gorgeous, parked beside the water. We get ourselves settled - Roger leaving the ute hitched, and not worrying about the mat or awning - so quick set up. Next we go for a walk to see if we can find any koalas....on our nice walk to Rocky Waterholes Bridge and beyond we see 1. Return to camp, time to relax. We have a visit from 2 ladies driving by - they're from the Visitor Centre and they're looking to photograph people fishing for marketing. Not Rog and I I'm afraid! Though they take some photos anyway of us sitting near our fire pit (not yet lit). After they've moved on, Roger lights our fire and starts preparing our tea. Meanwhile, some camp neighbours have arrived -I'm keen to meet their gorgeous big dog, so I go over to them for a short chat (don't stay long - they're still setting up). Rob and Sue from Rosebud, with their Bernese Mountain Dog, Cooper. Cooper's unsure of me to start with (he's partly blind) though soon becomes friendly once he realises I'm no threat. Back to camp to relax some more before tea. I make a call to Sharon - have a nice catch up, she's in Millicent with her Mum and Dad - about to come home tomorrow after spending the week helping get her Dad to Adelaide for surgery - a biopsy of his prostrate. Fingers crossed on the results they'll get in over a week's time. Tea is baked potatoes (campfire coals) with pork, boiled vegetables and gravy. Eat inside in the caravan, before returning outside to the fire - to enjoy the calm night and all the stars showing in the sky. Along with satellites and airplanes (lights of). Once the fire's died down and we start getting cold - we tidy up and go back in the van. Roger has a shower, while I wash the dishes. Now more relaxing before bedtime.
21/05/25 Wednesday Both have a sleep in today - so peaceful and no rush to be anywhere - get up just before 8am. Have our breakfasts and tidy up. I'm keen to go for a walk - Roger happier to meet me with the ute and caravan at the location I mentioned I'd like to walk to. OK that's what we'll do. I start my walk around 9am - quite sad to leave this camping spot - with this weather (calm and clear) it has been paradise. On packing up Roger discovers we've got a mouse/mice in the back of the ute (living in the drawers) - plans to get rid of that problem.
Roger drives out about 15 minutes later.Read more
