    Sightseeing, Kuala Lumpur. 🇲🇾

    20 de abril, Malasia ⋅ ☁️ 32 °C

After waiting about 3 hours at the airport in Kuala Lumpur, Manuela finally arrived.🤩❤️
We took a grab & at midnight, we arrived at our hotel in the city center.

Our first day, by 34°C and a humidity of 80-90%. started perfectly at a touristy café, where we talked, talked and talked, and of course, also ate a delicious, healthy breakfast and drank an ice coffee.😋🍌
Overloaded with energy, we walked around the entire day, passing the famous and lively streets of Chinatown and also visited the „Thean Hou temple“. For dinner, we enjoyed our first evening on Jalan Alor, where nearly every tourist probably spends their evening.🍜🥢

  • Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur. 🚃

    21 de abril, Malasia ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

Because of the traffic, we thought it would be easier to go by train to the well-known Batu Caves. It’s probably definitely easier and more practical to take the train, but it took us nearly 4 hours, (normally the journey by train is about 30 minutes,) until we finally arrived at the caves.
It was so unclear, even the way to the destination was marked on the platform, we took the wrong train 5 times.😵‍💫 But in the end, we still managed our leg day with the colorful 272 steps. 🥲😋

    (Way back was by Grab.😋🚕)

  • Off to Cameron Highlands. 🚌

    22 de abril, Malasia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

Yesterday evening, when we came back to the hotel and our phones connected to the WiFi, we saw several missed calls and messages from the hotel.🙈
Ups, we thought we had booked three nights at this hotel but it was a reservation for obly two nights.🫢
They had cleaned our room and taken everything out. It was possible to book a new room for that night, but we had to wait for more than three hours, until midnight, before we got our luggage back. Shit happens.😆

—> This morning, a four-hour drive to the Cameron Highlands awaits us. 🚌

  • Cameron Highlands. 🌱

    22 de abril, Malasia ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Cameron Highlands is a perfect stop to cool down. With temperatures between 18–25°, and surrounded by greenery, it is located at around 1500 meters above sea level. We visited the tea plantation and the teahouse where the famous BOH Tea is produced.🌱
The viewpoint was at a restaurant, located on a hill, and we got there by Grab. 🚖 No WiFi at the café meant no Grab, no signal, no plan how we are coming back to town.🤷🏻‍♀️ So we had no other option than to catch a ride with a friendly local couple. They kindly picked us up, and 40 minutes later, we were back in town.🤗
Otherwise, we found the place a bit boring, so we took the bus on the next morning to George Town, Penang .🚌

  • Next stop, George Town - Penang.🌴

    23 de abril, Malasia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Spending half a day in Cameron Highlights was enough for us. We took the (cooled down 🥶) bus the next morning at 7am. Even though there aren’t many tourists or passengers, the meeting time at the platform is always one hour before departure. The restaurants and cafés weren’t open, so we had our breakfast on the platform.🤪🍌 After a four-hour ride and 20 minutes by ferry, we arrived on Penang Island, where we took a Grab to our cozy apartment, located next to the batu ferringhi beach.🌴Leer más

  • George Town, Penang. 🫶🏽

    24 de abril, Malasia ⋅ 🌩️ 29 °C

On our first day in Penang, we had planned a beach day. So we went to the beach but after 45 minutes, it started to rain. We went back to our apartment, checked the weather, lost our temper for a second, and almost booked a flight to Thailand🤭, because the weather forecast showed rain for the whole next week in Malaysia. We calmed down and decided to go to George Town despite the rain.😅

George Town, the pretty city (where the sun also rewarded us,🤭) is the capital of Penang.🌞 It is located on an Island with a blend of history, culture, street art, and delicious food.🍱🍚🥟🍜
This beautiful city with his atmosphere and charming touristy flair, we really liked it. It’s a place where you can spend your time enjoying delicious street food, exploring sights like temples, little india, china town, clan jetties oder just wandering in the streets or simply relaxing in a cozy café.🌞💛

  • 🚢 - Langkawi.🌴

    26 de abril, Malasia ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

The next island on our plan was Langkawi. Unfortunately, there is no direct ferry from Penang to Langkawi at this time of year, as it only operates during the high season. So we took another bus to the mainland and after two hours, we got off and boarded a ferry for a short sea crossing to Langkawi.🚢 When we arrived on the island, it was raining very heavily.🙄
So we checked in in our hotel and this time, we really booked another ferry to Thailand, Koh-Lipe.🇹🇭🤭 Neither of us had been to this island when we visited Thailand before. It's not far from here, just about a two-hour ferry ride, and the weather should be much better than in Langkawi, where we had originally planned to stay for our beach-days in Malaysia.🌴🌧️ But first, we will spend one more day here, hoping for better weather, because tomorrow we want to visit the Sky Bridge and enjoy the scenic views from Langkawi's second-highest mountain, Gunung Mat Cincang.🙏🏽🌞

  • Langkawi.🌞

    27 de abril, Malasia ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Luckily, the bad mood we had yesterday because of the weather turned out to be a blessing, and today the sun is shining brightly. (the whole day🫣🤭)

We finally went to the Oriental Village, which is the starting point to take the cable car to visit the Sky Bridge and do the Skywalk. We were rewarded with an amazing view, a breathtaking landscape, and bevause we started early in the morning, there weren’t too many tourists.☺️ Afterwards, we walked to the waterfall and the "Seven Wells," where we, or rather I, went into the water because it was so hot and the perfect opportunity, in such a beautiful environment, to cool down.🧖‍♀️🐠Leer más

    28 de abril, Tailandia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

This peacefully comfortable atmosphere, the kind locals, delicious, healthy and light food, cosy, fancy restaurants, and fresh homemade smoothies bursting with flavour 🥭🥥🍓🍌🍇🍍

all surrounded by the most beautiful beaches, where the crystal-clear blue water meets the soft white sand – we've finally arrived in paradise.🌞🌴

No other country we've visited compares

    8 de mayo, Tailandia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

The rainy season starts in Thailand at the beginning of May and funnily, it really began to rain on the very first of May. 🌧️ Fortunately, we only had one full day of rain. Otherwise, we always had a few hours of sunshine.🌞 And to be honest, a break from the sun didn’t do our skin, let alone our minds — any harm. So we used the rainy hours not only to enjoy delicious food and book massages, but also to focus on our apartment search.🤭🙏🏽Leer más

  • ⛴️ - Langkawi🇲🇾 - ✈️- Kuala Lumpur.

    9 de mayo, Tailandia ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

We used our last evening on Koh Lipe to organize our luggage.🙄😂 Manu will take my hiking clothes back home, so I have the chance to continue traveling with a lighter and more comfortable backpack, filled only with the clothes I actually need. ✈️🤩

The only dryer at the laundry we used yesterday evening didn’t work.🙉 Of course, we were too late to look for another laundry, but fortunately, we met a kind young thaiwoman who dried our clothes overnight. This morning, we picked them up directly from her. 🤗🙏🏽

After a smooth ferry check-in, we relaxed in a cozy café, enjoyed a delicious coffee, left the beautiful island at 1:00pm and arrived in Langkawi 2.5 hours later. One strange experience was that they took our passports at check-in, and later, walked around the ferry trying to match each passenger to the photo in their passport. 🤭🇨🇭

Unfortunately, our flight to Kuala Lumpur, which was originally scheduled for the afternoon, was cancelled a few days ago. Luckily, we were able to book another flight in the evening at 9:20 PM, so we’ll arrive in KL just before midnight. ☺️

Tomorrow will be our last day together in Kuala Lumpur before Manu flies back home.🥺🫶🏽

    10 de mayo, Malasia ⋅ 🌩️ 32 °C

Hard to believe how quickly these three weeks have flown by. I wish I could just take you with me, on through new countries and cultures, because everything feels more beautiful and often a lot more fun when it's the two of us. 😄👯‍♂️❤️
Enough longing🥹, I‘m grateful and also genuinely looking forward to continuing the adventure on my own. We spent our last day together in Kuala Lumpur, enjoying a relaxed time before Manu left the city for the airport shortly after 5:00 PM. The next morning, I also made my way to the airport, from where a two and a half hour flight took me directly to Cambodia.🤩🇰🇭
