    We dropped over yesterday's Mother of Hills away from the stunning Albanian Riviera into a congested flat coastal region with real cities. Vlore was held by the Nazis in WWII; they had a sub base nearby. Now the waterfront has a modern business district geared to tourism. The last three photos were all taken on the main square in Fier. They show: a post WWII Communist era block apartment, an Ottoman era mosque and a Byzantine church. Also on the square is a modern bank building that would fit in in LA.Read more
