Guatapé

Since many people recommended me to visit Guatapé, I stayed one day longer in Medellín and booked a day tour to visit the town, located 2h outside the city.

Peñón de Guatapé is a rock formation that borders a lake. It formed along the Antioquia Rock Base (batolito de antioquia), 70 million years ago. With two-thirds of its height below ground, the exposed vertical face is over 200 meters high and visible from throughout the surrounding countryside. A staircase with more than 708 steps is built into one side of the rock, allowing visitors to climb up and enjoy the astonishing view.En savoir plus
