All aboard the stuggle bus

... it did not go well 🙃
As is tradtion in almost all Wautelet family vacation... Heres a full list of all the travel stuggles experienced on the first day of this trip ive been planning for almost 2 yrs now:
1) TV on the plane from Boston was broken. So the only entertainment I had on the plane was my book on tape, solitaire, and the boomers behind me complaining about all the problems flying a non-american airline 😅
2) Frankfort airport might be the most difficult corn maze ive ever had to navigate and took me in circles trying to just get my passport checked. Then I took a bus to another terminal, only to hop on another bus after checking into my flight, which drove around to the original terminal, and finally to my plane sitting out at the far corner of the airport. So much for german efficiency. SPOILER ALERT: ai really shouldnt be surprised they couldn't connect my luggage, even the bus drivers were making wrong turns.
3) No one checked my passport when I landed in italy! Literally no one was in the booth, so we just walked right through. Not really a problem, but it's weird right? 😅 I really wanted the italy passport stamp too 🥲
4) They didn't send my luggage on the plane to trieste. Sat for 1hr 30mins waiting to finally talk to someone about it as all the damn american tourists were arguing about a situation literally no one could control.
5) Waited another hour to get a train/bus due to a sudden wildfire closing down trains and rerouting busses.
6) My damn phone died on the bus journey. When i finally arrived at Trieste Autostazione, I spent 30mins trying to find somewhere to charge my phone. No one could help, so i had to but a charging block due to my own charging block being in the lost luggage.
... after all of that tho, I got in touch with Paola who picked me up and took me to the hostel to check in. We then went on a quick tour of Trieste and back to their home on the hill for some much needed relaxation and dinner!
To end the night, after dinner I was chilling back at the empty hostel room when one of the new roommates came in. She struck up the conversation first, thank god, and I met Katharina. We talked about our travels and decided to meet up the next day.Read more
