    Stop 26 - Lombok, Mt. Rinjani 🏔️

    September 7, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

3 days trekking Mount Rinjani 🏔️ 🥾 big thank you to our guide wahyu - got us through till the end !
7 hours first day of only incline 😅 up to base camp at 2,600 meters ⛺️ ☁️
2 am wake up for a very difficult 3 hour 45 degree incline climb to the summit at 3,726 meters 🌅
(Realised very quickly the British countryside isn’t quite the same experience as summiting a volcanic crater 😁- the fun began to wear off very quickly 😂)
Proceeded down to the lake and second camp after a 15 hour day of extremely steep decline - very sore and another day ahead of us to get to the bottom.
We’re still unsure how we managed to complete the trek after multiple falls onto arses, burning and peeling backs, fluid filled blisters, wet clothes and attempting it at the end of a three month backpacking bender but we did it 😄😄
Incredible experience but never again 😃
Stayed a night in a bungalow to recover which turned out to be on a farm with 200 turkeys (not pictured) 🦃 🌴

  • Stop 24- Gili T 🦋🌊☀️

    September 1, 2023 in Indonesia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Firstly, shout out to the mother 😁🥰
Gili Trawangan - island with no cars, just bikes or horse and carriage to get around😂
Lots of super good fish and grilled skewers, live music every night and horses on the beach for sunset 🐎 🌅
The most friendly locals we’ve met, especially our guy Tanson who got our attention to look at the sea where he could see multiple turtles- he proceeded to get us snorkels and got in the sea with us to spot them🥹 we saw around 5/6 in half an hour - thank you Tanson the turtle whisperer 🐢
(man on the guitar sang us three oasis songs after finding out we’re from Manchester- claims he’s the official third Gallagher) 🤷‍♀️
    10/10 gili T 😁
