Bus trip uneventful... staying in a hostel for 2 nights 8 bed dorm! Yes I might be crazy but so far so good.
Visit to the Seville Cathedral, which was beautiful, and walked up the 35 set of stairs to the top for some brilliant views.
Walked around this lovely city. Came across the plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza. Bull fighting arena. This was an interesting place. I don't agree with it but the ' institution ' was fascinating.
Walked on some more to the Torre del Oro aka Tower of gold, sitting in the banks of the river glimmering in the sun. Not sure I'd call it gold.
Wondered back in the direction of Hostel and grabbed a tapas meal and sangria. Good night legs hurt 17+k steps.

    28 de setembro de 2023, Espanha ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Time for a little break. Treated myself to a 3 star boutique hotel.
Train ride was beautiful passed loads of olive orchards.
Went for a walk... 17+k steps...
Visited Basilica de San Juan de Dios. These old churches and Basilicas are freaking me out a bit. There's bones in clear boxes hanging on walls and skulls, the large silver and gold urn has the remains of St John of God in it. There's fairly gruesome art and sculptures depicting events.
I might be over the religious monuments I think.
Walked to the top of the town Mirador de Santa Isabel la Real for a stunning view. A tough walk with loads of steps.
I couldn't get a ticket to the full experience of Alhambra but made my way up there as the gardens and the pavilion were free.... took the death march way as it turns out.... 860 meter walk that climbs 80 meters. It was fairly strenuous in 38degree heat. So apparently the prince used this path to visit the Generalife gardens. The path was eventually turned into the carriage way for funeral processions so a real death march except I was alive 😂
Shower and back out for something to eat.
Dinner and sangria with a view. Had the most energetic waiter ever.

  • Granada

    29 de setembro de 2023, Espanha ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

    Quiet day today.
Hammam this morning which was particularly uplifting. I had a 'Season experience' which was based on autumn and shedding of the unwanted dead leaves and preparing for the next season. Boy did I need that!
Went for a long walk to find a Lidl as I feared I was missing out on something. Pickering Cooper's currently in EU to and To be raves about the place.
As it turned out they did a pretty good salad for lunch otherwise it's really just a cheep supermarket and given I walked 4k round trip for a salad well.....
On return to the hotel, discovered a supermarket right across the road! 😂 that'll be useful tomorrow for a long train ride.
However on my travels found that Granada is mad for a fountain....
They also stock some interesting things in vending machines (laugh when you see it), found the science museum which has a giant boat with ants crawling up it, also found a random helicopter and statue of Flamenco.
Also pic out my room window which is a pretty cool view.

  • Granada to Valencia

    30 de setembro de 2023, Espanha ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

Went for a walk this morning and found a master puppeteers house to look through and paid €3 to take a tour in Spanish 😂 I haven't the foggiest of ideas what was said....
    Beautiful gardens surrounding the house.
Found a palace which was known as the Palace of swans so of course they shoved a couple of them in the pond.
Sangria to say goodbye to Granada and proof it's a soft drink.. 😂
    6 hours on a train.
    Will explore Valencia tomorrow.

What a beautiful city. Except for the "beach" the sand was fine and stuck to you and there were no waves. So I didn't stay long! Walked for a bit. Walked past the marina which housed some impressive boats.$$$ Found the performing art precinct with some stunning buildings and surrounds. Took a long walk through the adjacent park layed on the grass and read a while.found some lovely sculptures on my way back to accom.
    Petrol is expensive .
Will see the old part of the city tomorrow.

A big long walk today. 22+k steps.
    More park metal art.
    The beautiful market.
    The old Palace
    Torres de Sarranos
Walked past the Cathedral - all churched out so didn't go in.
Gulliver's park. This is a giant laying down statue playground for kids. It was brilliant sadly the photo doesn't do it justice.
Pretty flowering trees and massive old fits.
Bridge's with palm growing through them.
    And an aperol, just cos.
Beautiful gum tree, which are a pest here.
    Bought myself a birthday gift.

Stunning place. Hard time imagine it being built. Hike up the hill. Picnic on the way. Funicular...,..which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Rescued 'coques' bread from the train.... 😂
Return trip home to a Cha Cha dinner with Cava......lots of Cava
