Rest Day : Christchurch

Rest, laundry, etc day today. Handed the hire car back yesterday. Did a couple of walk/bus trips to 'the Gondola' and the Earthquake Museum. Scenery from the hills behind Christchurch is wonderful.
The Earthquake Museum commemorates the earthquake of September 2011. At 6.3 on the Richter Scale it was less than the Meckering earthquake but only 30 km from the city which was badly damaged. Not many pix from the museum. Copyright and all that, but the exhibits show the extent of the damage and how everyone came together to help those affected. The spire of the cathedral is one of the exhibits ad the cathedral is still under repair.Baca lagi
