    Lioness with two unweaned cubs
    Cubs are estimated to be two to three months oldFootprint of a lioness in the middle of Khwai village. From last night.Male of the pride the mother lion is in. 15 lions in all.The bridge on the river Khwai. I have to drive across this tomorrow.Sleepy lionGiraffe. They often seem displeased.Wattled Cranes. Beautiful. Better pictures than the pair we saw last night.A giant Ground Hornbill. Size of a Turkey. Yes it can fly but generally doesn't.Vervet Monkey doing the cute act.A fresh cool pond of happy hipposCan you spot the lions here. The phone camera makes them look further away.Morning tea beside the river. Bushes checked for hippos, leopards etcOne of the 'tuck shops' in Khwai. Cool drinks, icecream, chips etc.Two old folks chilling in the lounge. No AC and it's hot and dry.Crossing yhe Khwai River in the skinny bridge. Hippos looking on with interest.Out in the Mokoro. Relaxing to let someone else do the work. Its OK. The crocs are small.Sunset on the riverFull moon in Africa.Heaven. No motors, nobody was talking. Just peace.

    Khwai Day 2 - Last Adventure Day

    Went for the dawn safari drive this morning. Full house unlike last night when we the only people to go.
    Tick off hyenas, well a hyena for Angela now. Saw another lone adult. This is typically how you see them rather than gathered for a hunt. Bloody documentaries.
    The other key word for this drive was Lions. Came across a pride of 15 which included a mother with two tiny cubs. All well fed. We initially saw them drinking but found them again sleeping through the heat of the day. Again, I'm amazed how close you can get but the guide had to remind people not to stand up or put hands, phones, etc, outside the car.
    Did not see a Honey Badger but made up for it with a massive Ground Hornbill.
    This afternoon, I'm doing the obligatory Mokoro trip while Angela is chilling in the lounge. Shame we have not seen more Painted Dogs or any Cheetahs. Guess you can't have it all.
    Tomorrow we head over the totally iffy bridge and down the African Massage road back to Maun.    Leia mais
