Today we visited the amazing Volcano National Park 🌋😍. There is actually an active volcano right in the park. The Kilauea Volcano 🌋 - unfortunately there is no Lava Tube on the island right now and the volcano itself is closed - but we still hab a great look at it from the Volcano House.
From there we drove to Wahinekapu (Steam Vents), we watched warm steam rising from gaps in the ground! Incredible and it smelled like pasta water 😂. The steam is created by rain water on the hot stones of the volcano 🌋. Next we walked to the Ha’akulamanu (sulphur banks) and watched different minerals created by the volcano. It smelled a little bit like warm rubber or plastic and the sulfur has a yellow color.
On our way down to the coastline of the NP we stopped at different viewpoints along the way.
We saw some stones from the lava flow from July 1974. They just shine so black and glittery ✨. Absolutely beautiful what nature creates!
Next stop were the Puhimau Craters, where you can yell to and an echo comes back to you!
After the quick stop we went to Manua Ulu Eruption 🌋 it is lava from 1969-76 on which you can walk. We walked around 4km - very interesting and soooo different 🤩! After the walk we went through with our drive. Next viewpoint was Kealakomo Overlook - first time we spotted the ocean inside the NP. We also had some fresh passion fruit as a snack so yummy!
The end of the road was called the Hōlei Sea Arch and it also formed the end of the island and begin of the Pacific Ocean 🌊. Stunning to see the power of the water splashing onto the edge of the lava stones.

Heute haben wir den unglaublichen Vulkan-Nationalpark 🌋😍 besucht. Es gibt tatsächlich einen aktiven Vulkan direkt im Park: den Kilauea🌋 - leider gibt es im Moment keine Lavatunnel auf der Insel und der Vulkan selbst ist geschlossen - aber wir haben trotzdem einen tollen Blick vom Vulkanhaus auf den Kilauea werden können.
Von dort fuhren wir zum Wahinekapu (Steam Vents), dort beobachteten wir, wie warmer Dampf aus Risse im Boden aufstieg! Unglaublich und es roch nach Nudelwasser 😂. Der Dampf wird durch Regenwasser auf den heißen Steinen des Vulkans 🌋 erzeugt.
Als nächstes gingen wir zu den Ha'akulamanu (Schwefelbänken) und beobachteten dort verschiedene Mineralien, die durch den Vulkan gebildet wurden. Es roch ein wenig nach warmem Gummi oder Kunststoff.
Auf dem Weg hinunter zur Küste des NP hielten wir an verschiedenen Aussichtspunkten an.
Wir sahen einige Steine aus dem Lavastrom von Juli 1974. Die Steine leuchten einfach so schwarz und glitzernd ✨. Absolut schön, was die Natur erschaffen hat!
Nächster Halt waren die Puhimau-Krater, wo man reinschreien und sein Echo hören konnte!
Nach dem kurzen Zwischenstopp fuhren wir nach Manua Ulu Eruption 🌋 Es handelt Lava von 1969-76, auf der man spazieren gehen kann. Wir sind ca. 4km gelaufen -Mega interessant und einfach sooo anders 🤩!
Nach dem Spaziergang haben wir unsere Fahrt fortgesetzt. Der nächste Aussichtspunkt war Kealakomo Overlook - das erste Mal, dass wir den Ozean im NP entdeckten. Zusätzlich hatten gab es be uns frische Passionsfrüchte als Snack, so lecker!
Das Ende der Straße hieß Hōlei Sea Arch und bildete auch das Ende der Insel und den Beginn des Pazifiks 🌊. Atemberaubend zu sehen, mit wie viel Kraft des Wassers auf den Rand der Lavasteine schlägt und hochspritzt 🤩.Baca selengkapnya
