    Day 1 - Milan

    Arrival day to Italy!! Arrived in Milan at 8 am and took a train and then a subway to our neighborhood that the Airbnb is in. We were able to drop our luggage while the cleaned it and we went out to explore the neighborhood!
    We had amazing pizza and lemon soda and then went to a pharmacy for some essentials, dropped in a few stores, We had some pastries and cappachino.and went to a local park to take a nap til our Airbnb was ready. Such a beautiful day to lay in the grass and surrounded by locals doing their daily thing. Lots of groups of students traveling through, workers on benches taking their lunch break, ladies feeding the pigeons, lots of local flavor!
    Checked into our cute Airbnb and took another nap with the windows open and the noises of the city. We have a fun hobbit door to enter the Arena 1 complex and then there is a beautiful courtyard. Such a great find considering the hotels were overpriced due to the big decor event going on this week.    Read more

    Day 1 - Milan evening

    After our nap, we went out for dinner in a small alley near the park at a Tapas bar and had Aperol Spritzers, olives, beet salmon cakes, tempura prawns, and calamari sandwiches. Such a great experience with locals everywhere. Even dogs!

    Stopped for gelato on the way back. Incredible. Had the chocolate and pistachio. Yum! Goal to have some every day! So good!!!

    As we were almost bank to our lodging, we heard cheering from over a block away and decided to check it out. It was a sports bar and Milan’s soccer team was playing Nepali and the passion of the cheering was so heart warming. We stayed for a drink and really enjoyed the local football loyalty.

    Day 2 - The Galleria in Milan

    The amazing shopping! So many people. A group of boys in the center of the plaza chanting their soccer dreams for luck in the evening match against Portugal. Gorgeous architecture!

    Pictures cannot do this justice. It is just a masterpiece. The marble with the pink in it, the gold Madonna up top, the sun calendar, the 52 pillars, Bartholomew skinned, the double organs, stained glass that was dark outside, … just so in awe of the grandeur. It was just jaw dropping.Read more

    Travel day from Milan to quaint Varenna on Lake Como. Beautiful Grand Central Station of Milan. Rainy day, perfect day for napping and catching up on sleep.

    Such a gorgeous day! Got gelato, shopping, gorgeous views, Aperol spritzers and taglieri, Just Perfection! Totally indulged with shopping, fell a definite level up in life here! Holy cow! ❤️

    Took the ferry to Menaggio, another Lake Como village. It was quaint and beautiful. Loved walking all the alleys and the climb up to the castle.

    Took the ferry over to Bellagio. Much busier! Took a fun tram around the village to see the area. Had gelato of course!! Enjoyed the classic alleyways. Just beautiful.

    Had a wonderful pasta and salad lunch with more Aperol spritz. A beautiful day full of great historical stories.

    Day 7 - Dolomites - Alpe Di Siusi

    Aaaah. Felt like a little home today. Needed some mountain love. Too snowy for the hiking on the planned agenda but it was still gorgeous to see the Dolomites. They have famous via ferrata routes that would be so fun to do in the summer.Read more

    Gorgeous valleys of chalets, churches, wine and apple orchards, bell towers, and barns. We stopped at Dolfi, a historic wood carving factory.

    Took a gondola up to a cute little alpine village and had a fantastic meal with several people in our tour group. Got to try wienerschnitzel!

    Had a wonderful time wandering back alleys to find a beautiful church to explore, a great outdoor patio to have Aperol spritz and appetizers, glass shops, and more!

    Absolutely gorgeous basilica with such beautiful paintings, pillars, adornment…. It was beautiful. Will do a tour inside the basilica tomorrow but the piazza and the music… just amazing!!!

    Day 11 - Florence - Uffizi Gallery

    Had an excellent tour of the medieval and renaissance artwork. A tour with explanations of the stories, art progression of technique, commissioned pieces, etc. made this museum come alive. I would not have enjoyed it without a guide.Read more
