    Perpignan off-centre

    April 1 in France ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Today our adventure is, for Kamma, while Morten is resting in the hotel room, to watch the whereabouts of (the few) people passing by our dated, exhausted, tacky hotel (with good service 😀🙏) on the outskirts of Perpignan.
Due to Easter, shops are closed, but hey, there is sun on the balcony, opportunity for some office-work, and we don't need to think about where we will sleep tonight!
Highlight so far is the duration of the laundry-truck drivers stay at our hotel 🤔

Leaving Perpignan - new set of wheels!

    April 4 in France ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

Mortens mother fell and was hopitalized last week. Things are complicated and need our attention so unfortunately we have had to stop bikepacking 😔, have rented a car and will deliver the bikes to a freight company in Paris today. On Sunday we fly back to Copenhagen.Read more

    Paris!

    April 5 in France ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Even if it was for a sad reason that we ended up in #Paris, - which never was on our travelschedule, we (of course) enjoyed the "chock" of arriving to a buzzing, lively Springtime Paris Friday night. People chatting, eating, drinking, enjoying (city)life 😃.
We got sophisticated snacks a la Esu Lee at Le Calavier, climbed to Sacre Coeur, found a lovely shop " tai tai" and on Saturday treated ourselves to extravagant shellfish lunch at #lacoupole 🦀🦞🦐🦪
Strolled through Jardin de Luxembourg/Pantheon and finally had a nice glass of bio wine at Quai de Jemmapes
    #aurevoir Paris and #France - we'll be back

    Copenhagen – it´s a wrap + throwback!

    April 7 in Denmark ⋅ 🌬 17 °C

Destiny propelled us back to our home in Copenhagen (Frederiksberg)…
BUT! - we are ecstatic about having actually done this bikepacking adventure, even if it became shorter than expected. It fully lived up to our expectations, our (few) worries were pushed aside, we had so much joyful time. Of course we also had challenges, obstacles, some (minor) struggles with equipment, navigation, judgement of own abilities and wants. But this was all just how it was “supposed” to be.
For a while we said to ourselves that we never bikepacked before. BUT, - in fact we, in the early 90´ties when my father and his wife had rented a small summercabin in Sjællands Odde, popped our bikes on the train to Holbæk and rode on them from Holbæk to Odden. The last 15 km you go to the tip of the peninsula, there is basically only one road. Spending a few nights there it was clear to us that it would be too boring to go back on the same road so we decided to go to Jylland.
My mother was anyway coming that way to deliver my toddler niece to her mother, who lived in Jylland, so she agreed to bring a tent and some (thin!) foam-mats (I believe we might already have had sleeping bags) to us. From Odden we went with the ferry to Ebeltoft, camped in the garden of a relatives´ summerhouse, cycled on to Århus, visited friends, continued to Hov and took the ferry to Samsø. Wildcamped as there were no “ATM” and banks were closed that day. Had a small collision and Kamma hurt her knees and elbows and only wished for cool salty water, which is how we ended up in Ballen Havn camping/beach.
In the only café a band played, we thought they were pretty good so we went again the next evening, - it turned out that the band was/is in fact the now very known band “Michael Learns to Rock” 😊
We returned by ferry to Kalundborg, - cycled to Hedehusene and went by train for last app. 30 km.
So voila, - that was in fact our first (very improvised :-) ! ) bikebacking adventure
By the way; - the name Lost Memories is a joke that was triggered by the "countryduo" photo that my sister once unintendedly took of us.

    THANKS! :
It´s important for us to say that before our Spain-France trip, we truly learned a lot from all the bikepacking group conversations and blogs we`ve been following on facebook, the videos we´ve watched on YouTube etc. We spent a lot of time on planning the equipment etc. and we feel that it all paid of.
