• Robberg Nature Reserve

    September 17, 2025 in South Africa ⋅ 🌬 14 °C

The weather broke and the sun was out today, so we made the most of it by heading out to Robberg for a hike around the island. It was a stunning bit of coastline with all sorts of terrain to hike. The 5km hike took us a little over two hours to complete, and took us past cliffs, dunes, beaches, and seal colonies as we explored the reserve. The trail itself was a challenge, with rocky climbs, narrow paths past cliffs, sand trails, and some serious climbs. The effort was almost as rewarding as some of the views and scenery.
From there, we put the kids to sleep at home while the rest of the family went to see the Raptors and have some lunch before we met up again at Monkeyland. Monkeyland was another conservatory that fostered all types of monkeys and rescues. The 12 hectare parcel of forest allowed the monkeys free rein over their space to climb and swing as they pleased. It was a little daunting at first to have them so close and familiar with you, but after settling in, you got to see how happy and playful they were. Lennox had no doubts or fears at all in getting up close to them!
Afterwards, it was to Enricos for dinner by the sea. Unfortunately the wind had the deck closed, but inside we had some of the best pasta, pizzas and wines we could get, as well as a surprising Springbok shot from Emily! Despite us all starving heading in, barely any could finish their meals from the large servings they gave. With the kids needing showers after their mini Coca Cola shower, we went back to crash for the night.
