    Another early start to the day to head out to the elephant and cheetah experience. This time we were introduced to our elephants that we would be riding on, and got to meet their calves too! Lennox and Eden got saddles onto Bonny-face, a 6.5tonne bull that was the patriarch of the group. Our guide Bevan was just full of information for us, all about the animals and their way of life. Afterwards we got the opportunity to feed them and meet their young before they saluted us off.
    We then got to meet some cheetahs and take them for a walk which felt a little surreal. Lennox was happy to walk them with the lead, but declined patting them and getting too close.
    Lennox and Rory weren’t allowed on the lion experience, so Leah headed back to the house with them while we went on to meet some impressive white lions! We took a stroll with the pride before letting them rest during the heat of the day.
    It was an adrenaline-filled afternoon - over to Zambia again to do a zip line across the falls from Zambia to Zimbabwe, 111m bungee jump, and a swing that was just as big. It was an incredible exhilarating thrill and an amazing experience to have. Nerves were calm until you needed to approach the edge!
    That night, it was an early dinner to get the kids to bed. We went to The Lookout Cafe which overhung the chasm of the falls. The view was so incredible it looked painted! The food, drinks and service were just as good as the view too.    Leggi altro

    Last Safari

    Another early start for our final full day in Zimbabwe before our trip home. We were picked up by our Safari guide after a quick change of plans in order to see the most animas we could. Driving into the game parks, it was full of different wildlife from a huge variety of birds to elephants, giraffes, jackals, zebras, buffalo, baboons, and even the odd wildebeest.
    Breakfast was served in the national park, with some good old bush coffee. Unfortunately Eden was a bit under the weather, so the kids were shared around a bit that morning to help out.
    From there we went back to our hotel to crash out a bit to catch up on missed sleep from the night before.
    After everyone had woken up, we went out to the Smokehouse to try and escape the heat of the midday sun. The place was great with a variety of craft beers and friendly staff. We ordered some tapas which were quickly smashed down.
    From there it was across to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge for a swim in the pool for the kids, and a farewell drink for the adults. Lennox absolutely loved the pool and we had to fight to get him out. We had to leave early to give the kids a full night sleep before our big day of flights the next day, and so we could start packing up all the kids toys, clothes, food, electronics, and our own!     Heading Home

    Today was the day we headed home. Finishing up our final touches in the packing, making sure we had nappies, wipes, change of clothes, toys and snacks all on hand, we started our final legs for the land down under.
    It was a quick commute to Victoria Falls Airport to take us from Zimbabwe back to Johannesburg in South Africa. Airlink once again gave us such a good flying experience, even when Leah lost half her wine on the plane. Upon arriving, we said our farewells to Emily and Amos for their time spent with us - until we meet again!
    At Johannesburg, we used one of our Lounge Access passes to get into a lounge before our flight where we had food and showers to freshen up and change our clothes before our final 12 hour flight home.
    The last leg was an overnight flight which Lennox slept mostly through and Rory had a few snoozes. At last, we arrived back in Sydney. Exhausted. Exhilarated. Experienced. What an amazing African experience!    Leggi altro
