The Imperial City.

We’re having another crack at the Citadel this afternoon, there are a few clouds around and it seems cooler. It’s funny but there are only a couple of Rickshaw drivers around now, and most of them are asleep.

Just walking into the gate you can tell this place is a massive area. They had bikes for rent once we got in so we grabbed a couple of them. I’m so glad we did, this is the former site of the old capital. There’s a moat all the way around it, and ten ornate gates guarding a palace, temple,gardens and tombs. A lot of the building are open to visit and the Palace in particulate is beautiful and so ornate. It was great just to ride around and get a feel for just how big this old city was. Wouldn’t have seen nearly as much walking.

We dropped the bikes back at the entrance and then we couldn’t get out, you have to walk half a kilometre to either the north or south exit. By this time we were hot and thirsty so we convinced the bike hire kid to run us up to the gate in his buggy. Thank goodness, seemed like a long way.
