We had an evening flight, so the usual early check-in with drinks and dinner at Atura.
The flight was good except for 3 drunk 70 somethings creating a disturbance which resulted in them being separated and having the Captain making an announcement.
We checked in to Risata with no issue and had a Bintang before bed.Read more

Hello Kuta

Woke to an overcast but dry morning.
Walked the Kuta loop up the main drag and along the beach. We bumped into Ayu on the beachfront.
Breakfast, Money Changer, Nuka for coffee, Circle K, and then Jenny had her injectables.
We sat by the pool for a few hours and ordered lunch.
Had 2 for 1 cocktails at 4 pm before walking to Jimmy's Bar along the beach.
From there, we walked to Un's Restaurant, where I surprised Jenny by giving her her Engagement Ring that she lost a stone from years ago.
She ugly cried, which was all part of my plan.
We walked back to The Risata, Jenny went for a leg massage and I crashed it back in our room.Read more

A lazy day in Kuta

Went for a morning walk around the airport loop.
Had breakfast, then sat by the pool.
A late morning shower had us ducking for cover in the Jepun Bar.
Once the rain cleared, we walked to Lippo Mall and looked around, did a bit of shopping, and then lunch at Johnny Taco.
Chilled back in our room for the rest of the afternoon before walking up to Jimmy's Bar for a couple of drinks, then dinner at Kori.
We walked back to Risata along the beach. Jenny had a leg massage, and I had a swim before bed.Read more

Another lazy day.

Today was basically a day by the pool.
We had some good sun and made the most of it.
Ari and Danny met us at 10 am, and we purchased some more Sketch Dream clothing.
We got to Jimmy's Bar just after 4.30 pm. Had some drinks, Potato Scollops and Spring Rolls.
From there, we walked up to Don Juan for dinner then back to Risata along the beachfront.Read more

Serangan Turtle Centre

Kadek picked us up from Risata at 9am to take us to Candidasa.
On the way we stopped at Serangan Turtle Conservation and Education Centre.

Hatten Wines

Kadek suggested that we could stop at Hatten Wines to have a look and do a tasting.
We didn't take much convincing.
We were looked after by a very pleasant 21 year old lad who had a great knowledge of the product.
We compared Wines with grapes grown in Bali with those that use imported grapes from Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra and Limestone Coast.
The locally grown product was excellent.Read more

Arrived in Candidasa

Arrived in Candidasa around 1.30pm.
We had lunch at Loaf with Kadek and then he dropped us off at our accommodation - Sagara.
The room is lovely but the pool area is small and a bit crowded.
We sat there for a while and mooched before dinner.
We walked to Pandan Restaurant and had a drink, Spring Rolls and Onion Rings.
We then walked to another beachfront restaurant for a drink and a Banana Split for me.
Retired to our room early for the night.Read more

Morning in Candidasa

Went for a walk up and down the main drag before breakfast.
The breakfast at Sagara was very good in a lovely setting by the pool.
We sat poolside on a daybed until 10 am, then went across the road and had Wacky Jacky Coffee and Donuts which were amazing.Read more

Afternoon and Evening in Candidasa

We went for an afternoon walk to look for somewhere to have a drink and a bite to eat.
We stopped at Crazy Kangaroo and had Bruschetta and Nachos.
We chilled back at our room before having an amazing meal at Flamingo restaurant at Sagara, where we're staying.
After dinner, we finished our wine by the pool and then watched a movie back in our room.Read more

Another day in Candidasa

Another great breakfast by the pool at Sagara.
We then walked to Candidasa Temple and climbed the steps for a great view over the village to the ocean.
We had more time by the pool at Sagara, then went over to Wacky Jacky's again so that Jenny could have her Donuts. She also took some to give to the staff at Pandan. I had an ice cream, which was amazing.
Then on to Pandan Restaurant for more beach time and then lunch.
We chilled back in our room for the afternoon.Read more

Sunset and Vincent's

We had pre dinner drinks watching the sunset at Sagara, then walked to Vincent's restaurant for an amazing meal in a restaurant with fantastic staff.
(We walked in the wrong direction for 15 minutes and were a tad warm on arrival).Read more

Beach time

Jenny found a secluded little spot on the beach in front of Pandan Restaurant.
We spent a couple of days there from mid-morning to early afternoon including lunch.

Candidasa to Amed

Another lovely breakfast, and then we packed ready for a Midday checkout.
We sat by the pool for a while then went across the road to Wacky Jacky's for coffee and cake.
We checked out of Sagara, and Nenga drove us to Amed, where we checked in to Salt.
It was a bit of a stormy afternoon, but we walked to Teatro Cafe on the beach and had some drinks and a light lunch.
Back to Salt along the street. Jenny bought a couple of things in a nice shop along the way.
We spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool back at Salt drinking $5 cocktails and chatting to some locals and visitors.
Back to the room for a rest then we had a late dinner at a Kebab place on the street.Read more

A chilled day in Amed.

Went for a morning walk up the street and back and had a very nice breakfast at Salt.
Had some pool time and then walked about 15 minutes to get Jenny's finger nail fixed, but there wasn't anyone there who could do it.
On the walk back, we stopped at MD Amed for a fresh chicken sandwich and cool drink.
Walked back to Salt and rested in our room.
After a bit of a rest, we walked up the street. Jen bought a hat and wooden plate from Pure Bali then we had lunch at Rimba Cafe.
A stroll back to Salt and then a swim and drinks.
We decided to stay at Salt for dinner. Their food is as good as anywhere up the street.Read more

Another lazy Amed day

Had a very nice breakfast again at Salt, then went for a walk up the main street to Seamount, cutting through to the beach and back to Salt.
Sat by the pool for the rest of the morning and had a quick nap before lunch.
Walking into town for lunch at Rimba, we stopped for a drink at the rooftop bar next to Salt.
It was a hot and steamy day, so pool time in the afternoon was a must.
We ended up chatting to a lady from NSW who was holidaying on her own.
We had dinner at Salt again and were joined by Terry and Tanya from Cairns, whom we'd previously chatted with on our stay.
We ended up the last to leave at around 9.30pm.Read more

Amed back to Kuta

We woke early due to a crap night's sleep with dogs barking but were rewarded with a beautiful sunrise.
We had a lightish breakfast at Salt, packed and checked out.
Kadek picked us up around 8.30 a.m., then we went for coffee and breakfast in the main street of Amed.
We made a stop at Taman Tirtagangga Water Garden, which was an unexpected treat.
On the way back to Kuta, we stopped at Denpasar to buy kitchenware from UD Nuriah and then at Legian so Jenny could book her hair appointment.
We arrived back at Risata at 2 pm.
We unpacked and met Richard and Kendra at Gracie Kelly's for drinks and a snack, and then we all sat at Green Garden for the rest of the afternoon.
Back to our resorts for a quick change and freshen up before dinner at Temple by Ginger Moon.
The rains came on the walk back, so we made a convenient ice cream stop and continued back once the sky cleared.Read more

Taman Tirtagangga Water garden.

Kadek suggested we stop and look at the Taman Tirtagangga water garden on the way back to Kuta.
It's something we hadn't heard of before, and we're glad we made the stop.

Rain, rain and more rain 🌧🌧🌧

Rain continued all night and throughout the day. Not just a shower or two, tropical downpours.
We had a light breakfast at Risata, then met Richard and Kendra at Nuka for coffee and banana pancake.
Jenny and I met up with Kendra and her friend Trish and caught a Bluebird to Denpasar, then Kerokoban to look at homeware shops.
Afterwards, we met Richard and Alex at The Green Garden for drinks and lunch.
We got back to Risata just before 3pm to see Ayu as she was going back to her village for a ceremony.
After a rest back in our room, we met the wood carving man at the Jepun Bar who gave us our new sign then we had 3 cocktails each before meeting Richard, Kendra, Alex & Trish outside their Hotel.
We all went to dinner at Warung Damar for a fantastic meal.Read more

The rain continues

The overnight rain created havoc with the roads around Kuta, causing flooding.
We went for breakfast at Nuka.
Jenny walked the back way to Risata, I walked the front way, dropping off my laundry en route to our room.
Walked to Money Changer, then on to Jenny's injectables appointment.
The sky had cleared for the walk back to Risata, or so we thought. It poured down on the way back, but we had umbrellas, which came in very useful.
The rain cleared again, so we walked to Rolls & Bowls for lunch and had a fresh roll each.
We then walked up to Jimmy's along the street. The beach had been smashed and cut right back.
We had a beer with Danny and Ari, then walked back along the beach front but got caught in a massive burst of wind and rain.
We managed some time in the sun by the pool, then had drinks at the bar.
Dinner was at Gabah with the four from last night and was the meal of the holiday.
I had the Oxtail soup with veg and rice, and Jenny had the Pork Belly.
Both 10/10s.
Jenny went for a massage, and I went back to the room.Read more

Wet Wednesday

It rained all night again.
Roads around Kuta were flooded again.
We met Richard and Kendra at Nuka for breakfast at 9 am.
Walked up to the pharmacy and then back to Risata.
Jen and I got a Bluebird to the top of the street to look at JC Naturals and bought a wall decoration.
The plan was to walk to Burger King but the rain came and stayed all day and so we got bailed up in Stadium Cafe for an hour or so.
We eventually got a Bluebird back to Risata and had lunch there.
We both had a sleep in the afternoon before drinks at Jepun Bar.
Dinner was at Warung Damar again with Richard, Kendra and their friends.Read more

The last day

Jenny went for a morning walk.
We had to pack up and leave our room and move to another room for the day as our room was needed.
Went to Nuka for coffee.
Jenny went to Legian to have her hair straightened, and I stayed back at Risata in our big temporary room.
I met Jenny at Burger King for lunch, and then we walked back to Risata and finished packing and sat and had a coffee.
Jen met Jero at reception to get her handbags.
We checked out, left luggage at reception, and then got a taxi to the beach to farewell Jimmy's crew.
We caught up and had drinks with Terry and Tanya, who we met in Amed.
On the way back to Risata, we had dinner at Temple by Ginger Moon.
Richard and Kendra met us to say goodbye before we left.
We got a car to the airport and thus ended another amazing Bali holiday.Read more
