Morning flight to Coolangatta

We had a morning flight to Coolangatta with no issues and checked in at Kirra Beach Apartments before midday.
We went for walk and a late breakfast at Kiramisu while our room was getting prepared.
Chilled in the apartment in the afternoon and booked tickets to Essendon v Kangaroos at Metricon Stadium tomorrow.
Went to the local 7/11 and Liquor store to grab a few things.
Had drinks at St.Helens Burger Bar then dinner at Tupe-Aloha Bar & Grill then back to Apartment.Read more

Footy and Family

After breakfast, we got an Uber to pick up our Rental Car, then we drove to Brigs house.
Went to Metricon Stadium for footy.
A local couple took us from the Train Station carpark to the Stadium and also took us back again as luck would have it.
From there we drove to Darren and Vicky’s and went for Dinner at the Fox and Hounds.Read more

Coolangatta and the Kents

Walked to Coolangatta and back then had breakfast at Kirra.
Spent the rest of the morning in the apartment then picked up Brig and went to Darren and Vicky's house and sat with Vicky for the day.
Vicky cooked a roast for dinner.
News of a fresh COVID outbreak in Adelaide comes through which caused the state to go into lockdown.Read more

Lazy day in Kirra

We chilled in the apartment in the morning.
We cancelled our flights home and booked the apartment for another seven days due to the Adelaide Covid outbreak.
Lunch was at North Kirra SLSC then we walked back along the beach.
We had dinner with Allan Sharpe and his wife Dani at the Tully SLSC.Read more

Tamborine Mountain

We met Brig at her house and she drove us up to Tamborine Mountain for the day.
We visited Castle Glen Winery and Distillery then had lunch at Polish Place which had not long been reopened after a devastating fire.
We then found Witches Falls winery and of course had to stop for a look and see.
Back to Darren and Vicky’s for dinner - Jenny and Brig made Tacos.Read more

Rainbow Bay & Top Golf

We took a late morning walked around to Rainbow Bay and had lunch at Rainbow Bay SLSC. Jenny hated her Thai Chicken Salad, my Flathead was OK.
In the late afternoon, we picked up Brig and met Darren, Evan and Ashley at Top Golf.

North Burleigh and Marina Mirage

It was a coolish overcast day.
Our 10 year wedding anniversary.
We took a late morning drive to Burleigh Heads to have lunch at The Burleigh Pavilion but it was way too busy and they weren’t taking walk ins, so we went to the North Burleigh SLSC for lunch which was pretty good.
From there we drove up through Surfers Paradise and shopped at Marina Mirage.
On the drive back to Kirra, we had a quick stop at Coles for a few supplies.
Adi and Ayu video called us in the afternoon for our anniversary.
Went down to Chabathai restaurant and had a cracking meal.
I had the best Massaman Curry and Jenny had the Pad Thai.
It absolutely pissed with rain and lightning while we were at dinner.
We got icecream on the walk back to the apartment then watched Olympic opening ceremony.Read more

A quiet day in Kirra

We took the car back to Hertz then they dropped us to Tugan Beach and we walked 45mins back to Kirra.
Walked to Woolies Coolangatta and had Eggs on toast for lunch back at the apartment.
We had a chilled day in our room for the remainder of the day and had $4 pizza for dinner in our room and watched the Olympics in the evening.Read more

Golf & Cooly Hotel

Played Golf with Allan Sharpe and his mate Lee at Boomerang Farm Golf Course.
In the afternoon, Jen and I walked to the Coolangatta Hotel for lunch.
Walked back via the Lookout over Coolangatta and looked around Elizabeth Park
We kicked back in the apartment for rest of day and had Toasted Sandwiches for dinner.Read more

Sanctuary Cove

Vicky picked us up at 10am from Kirra.
We went back to her place then she drove us and Brig around the Sanctuary Cove area.
Lunch was at Sanctuary Cove Marina.
The rest of the day was spent back at Vicky & Darren's house. We had chicken and veg for dinner.

Went for a morning walk toward North Kirra.
Brig arrived at 10am and Darren picked me up at 10.30am for Golf at Tally Valley Golf Course.
Jen and Brig went to Coolangatta for lunch and shopping.

Lockdown comes to Queensland

Mooched around in the morning then got news that SE Queensland was going into Lockdown from 4pm.
We considered our options but just hoped that we could still fly out as planned on Monday.
Thought about going to the Supermarket but decided we had enough to get us through.
Walked to Coolangatta SLSC and had lunch and drinks while watching Olympic swimming on the screens.
Stopped at St. Helen’s Bar on the way back and had a couple of drinks.
Got back to our room just after 2pm.
Dinner was leftover Massaman Curry for me and Jen got a Laksa from across the road.
Watched Olympics in evening.Read more

Locked down in Kirra

Stayed in our room and watched Olympics all day.
We were meant to catch up with the family one last time before we left but Covid ended that.
Lunch was toasted Ham & Cheese Sandwiches.
Dinner was McDonald's which we Ubered in.
The following morning we
packed and headed to the airport.
We took our own snacks of platter items and boiled eggs to have at the airport for an early lunch.Read more
