Adelaide to Coolangatta

We had a morning flight to Coolangatta.
As luck would have it, we were asked at check-in if we'd like a free upgrade to the front row which of course we happily accepted.
In the screening line at the airport I saw Paul Evans from DCP who was on the same flight.
On the plane, I was sat across the isle from former SA politician Kevin Foley. We struck up a conversation and chatted the whole flight.
Arrived late morning, picked up our hire car and drove around to Rainbow Bay and had a drink at the SLSC.
Checked in to the Kirra Beach Apartments then drove to Brigs house.
Stopped in to Darren and Vicki’s then went to the Fox n Hounds for dinner.Läs mer

Hanging around Kirra

We went for a morning walk to Bilinga and back.
Mid morning, we walked to Twin Towns Club at Tweed Heads to have a look around.
It was the first time there for all of us and Myles was gobsmacked by the size of the place. He loved the lounge area with all the sports on the screens.
Lunch was at the Coolangatta SLSC.
Myles and Jen slept in afternoon
I went to Kirra SLSC for a beer and
took some photos on the beach.
Went to the liquor store and back to the room.
Dinner was at Tupe-Aloha Bar & Grill for Taco Tuesdays.Läs mer

Golf for me, shopping for thee.

I met Allan Sharpe for Golf at Palmer Gold Coast while Jen and Myles met Brig and Vicki at Robina Shopping Centre.
Jen and I went to Kirra SLSC for lunch, I had a loaded hotdog which was amazing. Jen had a play on the Pokies.
Myles had a snooze
Dinner was at Siblings - Kirra SLSC which was brilliant.
From there we walked to Twin Towns Club, stayed for a while and walked back after.Läs mer

Byron Bay and back

A drive down to Byron Bay with Brig.
We drove around Byron and looked at all of the views.
The Lighthouse car park was full so we went and had lunch at The Beach Hotel.
Myles and I had the best pizza ever.
A pint of beer was $19.
After lunch we walked around the streets of Byron then went back up to the Lighthouse for a look and then had a leisurely drive back to Kirra.
We had afternoon drinks at St. Helens Bar, watching an amazing sunset.
From there we bar hopped to Twin Towns to watch Port v Geelong.
Kirra SLSC, a pub on the corner in town and some pink hotel that wouldn’t let Myles in because he was wearing Birks.
We spent the night at Twin Towns and then walked back to the apartment slightly merry.Läs mer

Cape Byron Lighthouse

Cape Byron Lighthouse sits on Australia’s most easterly point, a shining light over Byron Bay.
The light that shines by night over Cape Byron Marine Park emanates from a tower as famous as the town of Byron Bay itself.
Built at the turn of the 19th century to protect ships passing along the coast, Cape Byron Lighthouse stands resolute on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. Operated by resident keepers until 1989, its now automated light is clearly visible from Byron Bay township.Läs mer

Kirra, Coolangatta, Tweed Heads.

After chatting to someone earlier in the week at a bar, we were keen to try our hand at Lawn Bowls and so we walked to Tweed Heads Bowls Club to have a go but we were told that "come and try" is only on Sundays.
So we walked to Point Danger looking over the cliffs to the ocean
We saw whales not too far out and also had some fighter jets fly past at our level.
We had lunch at Greenmount SLSC then walked back to the apartment.
Had a sleep in afternoon then
walked to Twin Towns and on the way had Maccas for dinner.
I sat in the Cigar lounge with Myles and watched Sydney v Brisbane and the Cricket.
Walked back to the Apartment and I watched The Ashes until the end of play. I was struggling with blocked sinuses.Läs mer

Golf and a Roast dinner

I woke up feeling shite with blocked sinuses and a cough.
Went to the chemist after breakfast for Covid tests and medication etc.
Myles had a mate coming over for the day.
Jen and I went to Darren & Vickys.
I played Par 3 golf with Darren and Ashley at Lakeside Country Club then back to have a Roast Dinner with the family.
Still feeling unwell, I stayed up back at the apartment and watched the Ashes.Läs mer

Enjoying the last day

Woke at leisure - feeling a bit better than yesterday.
Derek Whiteside called to tell me that Geraldine had passed away last night.
We walked to North Kirra SLSC for lunch. I had the Chicken burger which was amazing
Walked back, had an icecream and just chilled in the apartment for the afternoon.
We watched the footy and boxing and had a sleep.
Went for dinner at Chabathai down stairs. The Cashew Nut chicken was delicious.
Back to the apartment, packed our cases and watched the cricket.Läs mer
