  • New Plymouth

    We stopped in New Plymouth for a day to explore the city. We had a look at the Te Rewa Rewa Bridge (if you look closely you can see Mount Taranaki through the bridge) and the Wind Wand at the waterfront. We also walked through Pukekura Park and Brooklands Park which included a free zoo. The inner city of New Plymouth had lots of awesome street art and a cool looking museum 🤖Læs mere

  • Kiwi House

    Because it's so hard to see a Kiwi in the wild (they are nocturnal and very shy) we went to the Kiwi House and Native Bird Park in Otorohanga. They had two nocturnal houses and we actually managed to see three Kiwis which was pretty amazing.
    We weren't allowed to take any pictures of the Kiwis 🥝

  • Raglan

    Raglan is a cute little coastal town known for it's surfing beaches. After a coffee from Raglan Roast we went to Ngarunui Beach and Manu Bay to watch the surfers and waves. Manu Bay has one of the longest left-hand breaks in the world 🌊Læs mere

  • Hamilton Gardens

    The Hamilton Gardens were amazing. They display all sorts of different garden styles. Pictures are from the Paradise Collection which included a Chinese, a Renaissance and a Maori Garden and from the Fanatasy collection which included a Picturesque and a Surrealist Garden.Læs mere

  • Mount Maunganui Beach

    We went back to Mount Maunganui where we met our friends Lucy, Maïlys and Emma from our Hostel in Wellington. We had a chill beach day with our first swim of the season and Hokey Pokey ice cream 🍦☀️
    It's that time of the year where the Pohutukawa trees are starting to bloom again 🌸

  • Reunion in Tauranga

    We went to stay with our friends Facu, Mo and Nico who we first met in our hostel in Wellington. We cooked dinner together. Jake and Isi made curry and Hannah and Lina from Cornwall, who were also staying with our friends, made pasties. Afterwards we had a couple of beers around the fire.   • Polynesian Spa

    As the weather wasn't that great we treated ourselves to a spa day. The Polynesian Spa has geothermal hot pools with temperatures between 38 and 41.5°C. The water comes from two natural springs and contains many different minerals. The slightly acidic Priest Spring is said to relieve tired muscles, aches and pains while the alkaline waters of the Rachel Spring nourish skin.Læs mere

  • Girls Day in Taupo

    After Rotorua we went to Taupo to stay with our friends Steve and Rachel again.
    As Jake had to take the car to get a new WOF (equivalent of TÜV/MOT) Isi spent the day in Taupo with Lucy, Maïlys and Emma. We went to see the Huka Falls, had lunch and walked around Taupo.
    After the car passed WOF (yaaay) Jake picked Isi up and we saw the most amazing rainbow on our way back home 🌈

  • Orakei Korako

    Orakei Korako also known as the Hidden Valley is a highly active geothermal area. It is NZ's largest geyser field and it's composed of naturally fault-stepped silica terraces. Some of the terraces are topped with black, green and yellow algae which grow in temperatures between 35 to 49°C. It also includes the thermal Ruatapu Cave which extends more than 35m down to a hot pool named Waiwhakaata (Pool of Mirrors). As you can see on the video there were also bubbling mud pools.Læs mere

  • Napier II

    Before heading off to see Isi's work friends we stopped in Napier to walk around the city again. We took a few pictures of some of the beautiful buildings this city has to offer. Napier was destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and was rebuilt in the style of this era, Art Deco.Læs mere

  • Haumoana Beach

    After Napier we went to Hastings where we met Jana, Michael and Hanna, Isi's friends from work. We went to the Kiwi Version of Christmas Markets which don't really resemble European Christmas Markets. It was fun anyway as we got to catch up and have a drink together. Afterwards we all went camping at the Haumoana Beach where we had pizza, a fire, marshmallows and drinks.Læs mere
