We took the car out for a ride to Eastbourne. First we stopped at Day's Bay and had a coffee at the beach. Afterwards we went for a walk along the coast where we saw lots of goats on the cliffs 🐐

Brooklyn Hill

We hiked up Brooklyn Hill to see some old WW2 bunkers and the Brooklyn wind turbine. The original wind turbine was the oldest operating wind turbine in New Zealand. 🌬

Matiu/Somes Island is located in Wellington Harbour. We took the ferry over and spend the day hiking around the island. It was a really nice day 🐑

Van Gogh Exhibition

We went to an outdoor exhibition on Vincent Van Goghs paintings and life. The paintings were projected in big scale on shipping containers with background music.
Halloween Party

We had a Halloween Party at our hostel. Isi had to work in the evening and only got to do the mummy race. We lost and Jake felt a bit dizzy afterwards but it was great fun anyway.

Last Week in Wellington

Kowhai Park Playground

We finally started our road trip again. Our first stop after Wellington was Whanganui. We found this most amazing playground right next to where we camped for the night.
Whanganui

On the way into Whanganui we saw a beautiful sunset. We walked up the Durie Hill Tower from where we had a nice view over the city. Afterwards we went for a stroll around Whanganui.
Whanganui National Park

We hiked the Atene Skyline Track in the Whanganui National Park.
Waihi Beach

We visited Joe in Hawera for a night. After dinner we went to Waihi Beach to see the sunset. The black sand was amazing ☀️
Surf Highway 45

Surf Highway 45, the 100 km long route around Taranaki's coast, connects Hawera in the South to New Plymouth in the North. It gets it's name from all the surf beaches in between.

Three Sisters and Elephant Rock

Luckily the weather cleared up for us to see this beautiful beach. We timed it so we arrived at low tide and could easily walk along the beach to see the Three Sisters and the Elephant Rock 🐘
