• Ship Creek

    20 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

On the way from the glaciers to Wanaka we stopped at Ship Creek for a walk. On the walk back along the beach we saw a seal chilling after a swim and afterwards spotted a pod of dolphins close to the shoreline. It was pretty awesome watching them. If you look really closely you might see a fin or two sticking out of the water in the video 🐬Okumaya devam et

  • That Wanaka Tree

    20 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

We made it to Wanaka. Here's a picture of that really famous tree that's growing in Lake Wanaka. It's got it's own hashtag: #thatwanakatree. You can even find the hashtag on google maps.
A couple of months ago someone cut a few branches off the tree and people got very upset about it, whether it was to discourage tourists coming or just for fun, no one will ever know 🌳
As you can see, the tourists (us) are still coming to see the tree 😅

  • Roys Peak

    21 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ☁️ 2 °C

All of the 2.5 hours hike up Roys Peak were really steep but when we reached the top we agreed that is was definitely worth it. Such a great view over Lake Wanaka and the surrounding mountains.

  • Shotover Jet Boat

    22 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

The jet boat ride on Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown was so much fun. The ride was about an hour long and the boat goes as fast as 85 km/h. It also only needs 2 inches (5 cm) of water to stay afloat. We did loads of 360° spins and came quite close to the river bank.Okumaya devam et

  • Milford Road

    24 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ⛅ 6 °C

Couple of pictures from the way to and back from the Milford Sound on State Highway 94 including Knobs Flat, Mirror Lake, the start of the Milford Sound cruises, Gertrude Valley and Falls Creek.
We were lucky to be able to drive this road as many parts of it were destroyed by heavy rain and floods back in February and it only recently reopened.Okumaya devam et

  • Demolition World

    26 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Located in Invercargill this interesting place was put together by a couple who collect all sorts of stuff from demolished houses and places. It took them 17 years to put everything together and they're still going. It was really cool and a sometimes a bit creepy to walk around the place. We were a bit sad that our friends Chris and Lauren weren't with us for this one. It reminded us a bit of Miss Molly's Tea Room in Cornwall.Okumaya devam et

  • The Catlins

    27 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

The Catlins are a rugged and largely untouched area in the southeastern corner of NZ's south island. After Curio Bay we went to see the McLean Falls, Florence Hill Lookout, the Purakaunui Falls and Cannibal Bay where we saw sea lions chilling and fighting on the beach.Okumaya devam et

  • Dunedin

    28 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Dunedin was bigger than expected. We went for a walk around the city and had a look at the Dunedin Railway Station, apparently one of the most photographed buildings in NZ. We also went to the Toitū Otago Settlers Museum and afterwards to Baldwin Street, the steepest road in the world.Okumaya devam et

  • Yellow-Eyed Penguins

    29 Mayıs 2020, Yeni Zelanda ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Since travelling through the Catlins we have been looking for penguins. Isi read about a yellow-eyed penguin colony in Oamaru so we decided to try our luck there. Penguins leave their nests at dawn to go fishing and usually return anytime between two hours before sunset and sunset which was supposed to be at 5 pm. We went to the spot Isi read about at 3 pm. When we arrived we spotted a chinese golden pheasant. We ended up waiting for just under 2 hours in the cold and nearly walked off when Jake spoted a penguin in the water. We saw and heard two penguins swimming and waddling on the beach. Yellow-eyed penguins are one of the rarest penguins in the world 🐧Okumaya devam et
