A day in Marseille

Beautiful day in Marseille, Frances 3rd largest city which has been around since 600BC!
Our driver picked us up and we headed to Aix-en-Provence, a lovely town and home of the painter Paul Cezanne.
We wandered through the shops and the old town- lots of fountains and beautiful old buildings. The town was built on top of a Roman city which was built on top of middle-aged ruins- you could see the ruins through a transparent floor - outstanding!
We then went to Cassis, home to 90% of wineries in the Provence region.
We wandered through the markets and had lunch at the wharf.
Our tour finished back in Marseilles at the Notre Dame - absolutely stunning and the views were awesome. You can still see the bullet holes in the castle from WW2Leggi altro
