• KaYoa Island Day 2 - Side Show

    10 gennaio 2024, Tailandia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

10am was go-time today. Go where you may ask? Wherever our “hog” would take us (subject to basically one road that circled the island),

FYI: Hog = a scooter with a side car. 🏍️

Plan of attack… There was a secluded beach that Mike read about that seemed intriguing so off we went to explore the island and find this beach… and lunch…
and a Slurplee (there are 7Elevens everywhere in Thailand if I haven’t mentioned that yet!)… and the islands “best” coffee. Happy to report we nailed 3 out of the 4.

And then we wrapped up the day with a wonderful dinner at the Rice Paddy, owned by a German man named Frank.

    Here’s the run-down of the day’s side-car show:

*Lunch - Sabai Corner Bungalows. Food was a 7, view was a 8. Would have been a 9, maybe 10 if some “punks” didn’t swoop up the last of the seaside seats. It had a hammock so just imagine Mike’s seat envy at this point. 😉

Disclaimer: We have zero idea of these two young men were punks. But they punked the last good spot so we went with it.

*Beach - Long Beach (not S-n-double o-p’s home turf). This beach took some off-roading (and maybe airing down of some tires - jk, it didn’t) to get to and led us to what may be the highlight of my day… puppies! Sitting along the road to this beach were about 3-4 puppies. We stopped (naturally) and then a total of 11 fur friends surrounded us with puppy excitement! Payton would be less than pleased if we gifted her with a pup that would disturb her sleep patterns so we won’t be stuffing one in our suitcase for the flight home. But tempting!

The beach itself was very quiet. Not a lot of people at all and the tide was out so lots of rocks that made it difficult to go in. But it was perfect to relax on the beach and have an internal debate whether the only noise was from the subtle waves moving over the now exposed rocks or the tree leaves rustling from a gentle breeze.

*Coffee - Once we packed up and headed back from Long Beach, we set off to find the best coffee on the island. Mike zoomed all around the island in search of this joe, and then success!!! Not only did it have delish coffee but pastries as well. Definitely had a western vibe.

Juiced up and we were ready to head back to hotel (again no relation to V-town) for a dip in the pool and to get ready for dinner.

*Dinner - The Rice Paddy. Food had wonderful taste and the owner Frank was forefront the experience. He explained his menu, making suggestions and was in full joy/pride of his creations. 🤍

Ribeye for me, with gratin potatoes and a seafood pasta for Mike. The only hiccup for Frank is he suggested the shrimp head that topped Mike’s pasta was good to eat. That was a big negative for Mike… it was all he could do not to spit that out.

Overall 10/10 for Frank and Rice Paddy!

What happened to the Slurpee??? Glad you asked. Found a machine but no-dice. Not working so talk about a crushed dream. Next time in Thailand!

Tomorrow (Day 3) is island tour day! 🙌🏼

✌🏼to all and all a goodnight,
    🤍M&A🤍
