Day 1 - La Fortuna
3. januar, Costa Rica ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C
Off to La Fortuna today! Said ✌️ to the Holiday Inn and the casino (where I logged my first big gambling win), and we headed out West.
Well … not before a Walmart stop for dranks and snacks, and a stop at the mall for some sunglasses 🕶️ and 🩴’s - essentials for the sunshine ☀️ here in Costa Rica! And guess what??? They still have RadioShacks in Costa Rica! 🤯 If I didn’t take a pic, I’m not sure you would believe me!
(Anyone else remember picking up the latest Milli Vanilli cassette single at the County Fair Mall from RadioShack? Felt like yesterday … did a little trot down that memory lane for a few seconds! Blame it on the rain …. Ya … ya …)
From the mall, we headed out for a 3 hour drive to La Fortuna. Stopped for lunch at a place that had “Typical Food and More” — Z was “doing it for the Gram” (he will thank me later when he goes viral for this clip) — passed a Cat Park (told Mike we didn’t have time to hit up that attraction - he’s still not speaking to me), and then stopped just before our arrival for a mango and a pineapple … coffee may have been in the mix too. 😉
Our house for the next few days is tucked away off the road, with a gorgeous view of the mountains and a quick walk to the main drag to the downtown area. You can see that the fog rolled in a bit so skies upon our arrival were not as blue as earlier but still beautiful and provided an authentic humid “jungle” vibe.
The house is perfect!!! Location A+, Beauty A+, Needs/Wants A++ … Disco pool was a nice touch — truthfully, we don’t know how the pool lights started hosting a rave so we will deal with that manana. Until then the Toucans can have a rave on us!
Looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning to pull back our curtains and unveil what God has for us! I’m confident I’ll be pleased. He never disappoints.
Ended the evening with a short walk downtown to Chipotle. Not the U.S. Chipotle … but Costa Rica style. It was delicious and I ate too much!
Going to bed this evening with a belly full and full of gratitude!
Much love,

Where is the famous “Mango Mike” cowboy hat? Maybe you need a new one???
