  • Travel to and arrival in Monteverde

    October 2, 2025 in Costa Rica ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Caught the Monteverde express from La Fortuna to Monteverde today which is a jeep to a boat, across a lake and then another jeep.

Met some great people on the boat who I then spent the rest of the day with. Another night walk where we saw plenty of birds and a viper.

Tomorrow is up into the cloud forest properly!

  • Brunch at Monteverde

    October 3, 2025 in Costa Rica ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Added one more day at Monteverde to spend time with the group of people that I have been moving around with.

Great group of us! 3 brits including me, 2 Germans and an Australian.

Tomorrow it is on to Quepos on the pacific coast and another national park, Manuel Antonio.Read more

  • Arrival in Quepos

    Oct 5–7, 2025 in Costa Rica ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

First time on the coast but back in the heat! Monteverde cloud forest was high in the mountains and much cooler with low humidity.

Quepos is next to Manuel Antonio and down at the sea, beautiful sunsets and hopefully scarlett macaws!

Long 6 hour bus journey from Monteverde but it was great fun with a couple of local guys giving us great advice.

Still travelling with my new best mate Anna.

Also currently staying at the nicest hostel in existence. Amazing host and freshly baked banana bread with fresh fruit on arrival?!

  • A one night stop in Dominical

    Oct 8–9, 2025 in Costa Rica ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

We were meant to head all the way down from Quepos to Uvita but ended up stopping at Dominical instead.

Anna had a friend she met in Panama staying that and we stopped to say hi. Ended up hiring surfboards and staying the night!

On to Puerto Jimenez and the Osa peninsula today.

  • Arrived in Puerto Jimenez

    Oct 8–10, 2025 in Costa Rica ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

Full day travelling from Dominical to Puerto Jimenez.

Puerto Jimenez is on the Osa peninsula and is the gateway to Corcovado National Park. Unfortunately, Corcovado is shut in the rainy season but there is still lots to see.

Spending tomorrow with a local guide to see great wildlife. Fingers crossed for tapir, and maybe if we are incredibly lucky, jaguar.

Journey here was a long bus ride followed by a taxi driver who introduced himself as Tony the Tiger. Threw our stuff in the flat bed of his truck and then drove us into town.

Shook hands on $20, charged me $30. Classic.

  • The wild Osa Peninsula

    October 9, 2025 in Costa Rica ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

The Osa Peninsula is among the most remote parts of Costa Rica and is described by National Geographic as one of the most biologically intense places on earth. The landscapes and wildlife are incredible, and spending the day journeying around the Peninsula with a local photographer in his 4x4 made it even cooler.Read more

  • Ferry to Golfito

    October 10, 2025 in Costa Rica ⋅ 🌧 24 °C

Leaving the Osa Peninsula and getting the ferry over to Golfito. Then a bus journey to the Panama la frontera and a walk through border control!

Beautiful weather for a boat trip

  • True American truck driver

    October 10, 2025 in Panama ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

Crazy day, started on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica and caught a ferry across Golfo Dulce before catching a bus to the Panamanian border.

Accidentally walked across the border the first time and had to quickly turn around.

After struggling through passport control I met a truck driver called Johon who offered me a lift to David city in his Pan American truck.

Craziest day I've had so far! Safely made it to Boquete in the Panama mountains.

  • 2 nights in Boquete

    October 11, 2025 in Panama ⋅ 🌧 22 °C

2 nights in an amazing hostel up in the mountain town of Boquete. It is a much cooler climate up here and, most importantly, has no mosquitos.

Tomorrow marks 2 weeks travelling. Feels like so much longer already.

A great night's sleep in a beautiful hostel and then back down to the coast. Tomorrow is Santa Catalina!

  • Surf stay in Santa Catalina

    October 14, 2025 in Panama ⋅ 🌧 28 °C

Came to Santa Catalina on a spur of the moment decision and have ended up staying for 4 nights.

Beautiful place on the coast and I've stayed in a hostel with really amazing people.

Snorkeling with turtles and sharks with a guest appearance of a black tip reef shark scaring the life out of me.Read more

  • Living inside a volcanic crater

    Oct 16–19, 2025 in Panama ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

Spending 3 days in the mountain town of El Valle de Anton before heading down into Panama City.

El Valle de Anton is inside the crater of an extinct volcano and is surrounded on all sides by the rim of that volcano. Really strange to look around and see a ring of mountains in every direction!

Some great hikes here and beautiful wildlife

  • 2 days in Panama City before San Blas

    October 20, 2025 in Panama ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

Strange to be back in a city after nearly a month of villages, jungle and surf but also pretty nice! Panama City is busy and has a really interesting mix of old town and new skyscrapers.

Unfortunately no time to visit the canal with too much prep to do for my next leg, San Blas islands!

San Blas is an autonomous region governed by the Kuna people. I'm spending the next 4 days island hopping my way to Colombia.

No signal at sea so see you ain Colombia!

    October 22, 2025 in Panama ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Wrapping up my last night in Kuna Yala, the autonomous region in the north of Panama and Colombia. The Kuna people fought for their autonomy a hundred years ago and are independent with their own congress.

Kuna guides have sailed us through their islands for 3 days and tomorrow we arrive in Colombia.

  • Kuna Yala - Look back

    October 23, 2025 in Panama ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Kuna Yala is going to leave a mark on me for a really long time. Everyone that I travelled through the islands with is an amazing person. The Kuna people were selfless and lovely bar none.

Kuna society functioning without jobs or money is something to think about for me. No need for materialism when you and your neighbours have everything that you could need.

Here are some pictures that cant come close to capturing how amazing my time there was.
