Downtown Vancouver

FR: Encore un petit tour en ferry et nous voilà à Vancouver. Alors, Vancouver...bon... (vous avez déjà compris que ca va se gâter...). Cette ville est idéalement localisée, entre océan et montagnes, avec des saisons contrastées et des hivers cléments, enfin, autant que l'on peut en avoir au Canada. Le Grandville Market est un endroit particulièrement sympa. C'est un grand marché couvert oú l'on se lèche les babines toutes les 5 minutes... mais voilà, il y a un mais. La quantité et la densité des buildings fait que, oú que l'on soit, la vue et polluée. La ville se vante pourtant d'avoir 27 "protected view corridors"...des couloirs entre les buildings où la vue sur les montagnes est "préservée", mais bon, ces couloirs sont si étroits que cette histoire de "vue préservée" porte à rire... du pure "bullshit" (i.e. "foutage de gueule"). En plus la ville est en pleine crise du logement, alors ca goudronne et ca construit des tours de partout... Je serais curieuse de voir combien de ces "protected view corridors" vont être bientôt sacrifiés sur l'autel de l'hyper-urbanisation qui gangrènent déjà le potentiel de cette ville.

This city is ideally located, between ocean and mountains, with contrasting seasons and mild winters... as mild as a winter can get in Canada. The Grandville Market is a particularly nice place. It's a big covered market where you lick your lips every 5 minutes ... but, there is a but. The quantity and the density of buildings makes that, no matter where you are, the view is polluted. Still, the city is bragging because it has 27 so-called "protected view corridors" ... corridors between the buildings where mountain views are "preserved", but well, these corridors are so narrow that this story of "preserved view" made me laugh ... pure "bullshit". In addition, the city undergoes a major housing crisis. As a result they poor asphalt and build towers everywhere... I would be curious to see how many of these "protected view corridors" will soon be sacrificed for the benefit of the hyper-urbanization already ruining the potential of this city.Read more
