Kuala Lumpur is a city full of memorable modern and historical landmarks. Its Heritage Quarter consists of Kuala Lumpur’s most important historical landmarks such as Jamek Mosque, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, St. Mary Cathedral and Panggung Bandaraya (City Theater).

Now, Kuala Lumpur’s latest tourist attraction – the Countdown Clock, located at Dataran Merdeka – joins this landscape. This captivating modern landmark is part of the River of Life Project which is envisaged to breathe new life into the city through the revitalisation of the Klang and Gombak Rivers into a Heritage and Commercial Centre.

The recently completed clock is complemented by a colourful fountain and surrounded by lovely landscaping, and is best viewed at night. Its kaleidoscopic play of colourful lights and jets of water is guaranteed to mesmerise visitors. The clock counts down the time towards the year 2020, a date Malaysia set itself back in the 1980s for becoming a modernised, affluent nation.
