  • Batik painting with Art

    April 16, 2025 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

This morning we escaped the rain to spend an amazing 2 hours with Art.he is a batik artist that lives very frugally in a 1 roomed house/studio. He provides the opportunity to create a bespoke batik with instruction, guidance and assistance. He is genuinely one of the most lovely people we have ever met and our morning with him was magical. He will hand deliver our finished art to our hotel tomorrow evening once he has set the colours and dried it.Read more

  • Traumatic last day!

    April 18, 2025 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Enjoying our final day in Thailand...
Sat on my lounger admiring a kingfisher on the beach, felt something drop on me, turned around and there's a snake!!!! I lept up screaming and Matt didn't believe me until we found it slithering away 😭😭😭 then, to make matters worse, a few hours later I'm sat sending a text message, glance down the the snake is now slithering under the line of sunbeds back to the tree it came from. Honestly I don't know how I survived. Turns out golden tress makes 'fly' between trees which is how it ended up landing on me!

Aside from this we had a lovely final day or swimming and surfing and stayed out until the sun set.

Then we sat on the plane for over 2 hours whilst an engineer tried to fix a stick parking brake...to no avail.
Deboarded at 2am and eventually made it to a hotel by just after 4.

Fortunately our hotel has a pool... unfortunately we didn't have any swimmers or spare clothes in our carry on bags. A trip to the mall adjoining the hotel just about solved that.
Our food is included all day and lunch was really good with sushi and spring rolls keeping the kids happy.
Flight is now 12.30 tonight so we are here until 9pm.
