    Random pictures around Berlin

    August 8, 2025 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

1,2 Very Germany restaurant I went to, felt like I was in Fredericksburg.
3 If you keep your eye out for it you can see damage to building all over Berlin from World War II.
4 This guy was playing both pianos at the same time, one piano for each hand.
5 When I saw this building I thought he would have been much better off taking the money from the city instead of fighting to keep his house from being demolished for the train.
6 This was a Porsha commercial they where filming around Berlin.
7 This was the hotel I was staying at and if you look really closely at the top of the building you will see two swings.
8-11 Pictures from a park I walked around in.

  • Sites Around Berlin

    August 8, 2025 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

1,2 This is a television broadcasting tower with a restaurant at the top. Was built when Russia controlled East Berlin.
3,4 This was a church that has been converted into a museum.
    5. This is a German Cathedral
    6. This is a Soviet War Memorial Tiergarten dedicated to all the Russians who died in World War II.
    7. This is the Victory Column for the Prussian-Danish war.
    8. This is the round about which goes around the Victory Column. It has seven lanes. After watching Chevy Chase European vacation, I always wondered how the cars in or the middle roundabout got out. It turns out these large roundabouts have signal lights which allow cars on the inside to exit the roundabout.

  • Berlin Wall

    August 18, 2025 in Germany

I never really understood the significances of the Berlin Wall until I saw it for myself. Berlin was split up into different parts controlled by different countries. People living in Berlin could freely move within Berlin. At some point the Russians decided they no longer wanted people living in East Berlin moving to West Berlin so they started building the Berlin wall. At first it was just barb wire but at the end it was a full prison wall. Anyone found between the inner and outer wall was shot and if they survived getting shot they where then placed in prison.Read more

  • A Mechanical Computer

    August 19, 2025 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

I had heard about these mechanical computers but had never seen one until now.
1 Overall view of computer and it had 0.17 kilobytes of memory you could write and read from.
2 This is the number output.
3 This is where you could enter numbers manually.
4 This is where you could use a punch tape to enter data instead of entering the data manually.
The computer had the blindingly quick processing speed of one hertz. Somehow I don't think you could have played Pac Man on it.

  • Pergamon Museum. The Panorama

    August 20, 2025 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

These pictures are not even close to how impressive the visual experience was. There was a four stores tower in the middle you climbed up and all around you was a 360 degrees picture of Athens. It was very impressive.Read more
