Komodo Dragon island

Now that is one big lizard. Seeing them in the wild is not the same as seeing them at the zoo. In the wild, they come out of the jungle from behind you. They are also well camouflage for the jungle. There where a lot of Komodo Dragons walking around the island and the best I could tell no one lives on the island with the Komodo Dragons.Read more

I just walked around the port area but the roundabouts have these elaborate religious statues. I am planning on going back to Bali to check out the snorkeling.

Borobudur Temple

The tour guide starts off by saying “ Indonesia has a lot of volcanoes but not to worry because the last volcano eruption happened, let me think how many years ago was it, oh yea, the last volcano eruption was last night.”

The Borobudur Temple was covered in volcanic ash hundreds of years ago.

The drive to the temple was six hours round trip and we had a police escort the whole time whose only job was to make sure we got back to the cruise ship on time. When there was traffic, the police car would turn on his siren so we could drive on the wrong side of the road and run the red lights. Now I know why presidents like to have a police escort.

60 percent of the population in Indonesia work in the agriculture business with coffee and natural rubber being a major export. In the United States 6 percent work in the agriculture business. I only saw a couple of pieces of farm equipment. So yea, incomes in Indonesia are low.

This is a religious figure statue where the construction was finished in 2018. The statue is huge, much bigger then the statue of Liberty in New York. Make sure you don't tell Trump about it or he might want to use the tariff dollars to build a statue in his own image. On the last picture, that was the view from the restaurant I at lunch at. There is a volcano in the distance but you can't see the volcano because the local farmers set their farm land on file which makes the air haze.Read more

Got a hands on experience with feeding and washing the elephants plus they had a baby elephant. The only way they could keep the baby elephant is one spot was to continuously feed the baby elephant. When the baby elephant did run around the mom would follow the baby and you better get out of the way. Also I thought elephants had feet's like horses. Turns out they have feet more like ours with a soft bottom and toenails.Read more

The first three pictures are from around the hotel I was staying at.
4. Is the boat that takes you from the island back to Bali.
5. They where a number of these large religions statures around Bali.
6. There where a lot of motor scooters.
7. This is not the latest energy drink being sold at a convenience store, it is gasoline for motor scooters.Read more

Snorkeling in Bali

It turns out, if you wear swim pants on a snorkeling tour with a bunch of tourist from Japan, you feel like you are hanging out with the cool kids. If you wear swim pants on a snorkeling tour with a bunch of tourist from France, were the women are wearing bikinis with thongs and the men are wearing Speedos and have shaved chests, you REALLY feel out of place wearing your swim pants. While the snorkeling was good, I felt there where closer place to the USA that where just as good or better, like Belize.Read more

Monkey Forest

This was an over rated tourist site called Monkey Forest. The monkeys in Costa Rica, that just showed up on the back porch, was a lot better monkey experience.
