Very surprised to see an entire country of people who have the same behavior as I do. The Japanese people are very polite and there is none of the "everyone for themselves attitude". At all the train station everyone gets into these organized lines. There is also no graffiti of any kind and I have not seen a single person with a tattoo. There are vending machines all over the city and not a single one of them has any graffiti or any kind of damage to the vending machine. Also if you a male, I think you have to wear a white shirt and dark pants or you don't work in Japan.Read more

Fireworks Show

Went to a fireworks show and many of the woman dressed up in the traditional Japanese kimono outfit. There where thousands of people there and no food vendors. There was no beer, sodas, nachos, hotdogs, pretzels, funnel cakes, no food or drinks of any kind for sale. It was the most un-American fireworks display I have ever seen.Read more

Do you know what is worst then a musical in English? A musical in Japanese. There where very few foreign tourist at Tokyo Disney and most things where in Japanese. The lines where short for Disney but I would have preferred longer lines with everything in English.Read more

Tokyo Disney Sea

It turns out Disney has two separate resorts in Tokyo. There is Disneyland Tokyo and Disney Tokyo Sea, which is a unique Disney resort and had the usual Disney crowd level, still all in Japanese.

The Making of Harry Potter

This is a large building full of recreated sets from the Harry Potter movies. For some of the sets you could act like you where in the movie and get your picture taken. There where a lot of people in Harry Potter outfits and they seems to be having a great time. This was the first attraction in Japan where everything was in English with Japanese subtitles.Read more

Mt Fuji

In the first picture, Mt Fuji is under the clouds. I was going to climb Mt Fuji until I read that hikes to the top of Mt Fuji start at midnight and you arrive at the top to watch the sun rises because Mt Fuji is normally covered in clouds during the day. I also stayed in a traditional Japanese hotel. In the last picture the lake had a lot of the peddle swan boats and it looked like people where effortlessly pedaling the swan boats around, especially into the wind.Read more

Imperial Palace

The royal palaces in Europe are significantly more impressive than the Imperial Palace in Japan and most of the Imperial Palace is closed to the public. I think most of Japan was burnt to the ground during WWII because almost everything I have seen in Japan was built after WWII.Read more

Hotel

This is one of the hotels I stayed at in Japan which had a great view. The Japanese are known for trying to optimize things but sometimes they go to far. They have the toilet with the built in sink. When you flush the toilet, instead of just filling the tank, the sink runs and the water from the sink goes into the toilet tank. You have to be quick when you wash your hands. They have also figured out how to combined the sink faucet and the shower faucet into one, with built in temperature control.Read more

Akihabara Electric Town

In Tokyo they have a small area where anime is very popular. Most of Tokyo did not look like this area. Some people also have their cars decorated with their favorite anime characters. The English translation for these cars is "Painful Car" It was a big change from the "low rider" cars I grew up with.Read more

I was surprised how big of a city Tokyo is, and I did not see any wealthy or poor neighbors. The whole city seemed like middle class neighbors.

These are some pictures I have taken around Japan.
1. When they close off a seating section in a restaurant they are very serious about not entering. The Japanese text translates to "can't pass through" and "No Traffic allowed". I guess it is just the foreigners they have problems with.
2. Train station.

Bullet Train

Took a bullet train from Tokyo to Hiroshima. The train gets up to speeds around 200mph, which is a lot faster then the 45mph Amtrack I am familiar with. What surprised me the most is the train went thru a number of cites in Japan and I did not see any poor neighborhoods or wealth neighborhoods. It is like everyone in Japan is middle class. When I was in Brazil I saw millions of people living in slums.Read more

Peace Memorial Park

They have a great museum about the dropping of the first atomic bomb. The museum did not place blame on anyone. It just explained what happened.

There is a small island off the coast of Hiroshima that started off as a religious site but has turned into more of a tourist destination. The deer were as tame as goats at a petting zoo.
