    Warsaw

    September 5, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

So in Berlin, I got the feeling the Germans wanted to leave World War II in the past. In Warsaw, I got the feeling they want everyone to know what Germany did to their city.
1 This is a World War II museum about all the terrible things Germany did in Warsaw. The plane is an American transport plane that dropped supplies to the Polish resistant army when the Russians arrived at Warsaw.
2 This is a building alone a river that the Russians and Germany fought each other for a week or so. The damage on the building is from Russians shooting at the Germans.
3, 4 Throughout the city there are this information signs about the damage the Germans did to Warsaw. About 90% of Warsaw was destroyed and the Polish want everyone to know the Germans did it.

  • Warsaw Sites

    September 5, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

These are pictures I took around Warsaw
1 This was an area completely destroyed in World War II that the Polish rebuilt to look like it did before the war.
2 This is a government building built by the Russians for Warsaw. It is one of the most famous buildings in Warsaw.
3 This is the bridge that replaced the one the Germans blowup.
4, 5 About 90% of Warsaw was destroyed in World War II and most of the buildings now look modern. I got the feeling there was a large building boom after the Soviet Union broke up.

  • The Royal Castle in Warsaw

This is the Royal Castle in Warsaw. It was completely destroyed in World War II and was rebuilt with donations from the citizens in Warsaw.

  • Muzeum Lotnictwa Polskiego

    September 12, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

This was a very impressive airplane museum. I am pretty sure it was an active air base run by the Soviet Union and when the Soviet Union collapsed there was no more money to maintain the airplanes or air base. So they just took down the airbase sign and put on a museum sign.Read more

  • Wieliczka Salt Mine

    September 13, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

There is a large ancient salt deposit under Poland that is 300 km long and 100 km wide. In the 13th century there was a salt water spring that people would collect the saltwater and boil off the water to get the salt. Salt at that time was very valuable because it was used to preserve food. At the end of the 13th century people started digging into the ground to mine the salt. People have been digging the salt out of the mine continually until 1996. The mine is massive and the miners over the years have carved statues out of the salt. The rock is 90% salt and 10% of a gray mineral. The reason the rock looks gray is because the salt is clear, so you can only see the 10% gray mineral. The first picture is the main church they carved out of the salt and they still have service every Sunday. The last picture is a manual wench they used to lift the salt out of the mine.Read more

  • Krakow

    September 15, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

This is the main square in Krakow. Krakow was untouched during World War II and was the city that Schindler had his factory where he saved the lives of his Jews workers.

  • Kopiec Kościuszki

    September 15, 2025 in Poland ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

This is a mound of dirt that locals hauled in one wheel barrow at a time to honor a national hero. Looking at the picture you can see the sides of the hill are steep but it was easy using the ramp to walk to the top. I am convinced this is how the pyramids in Egypt where built. Just looking at this mount of dirt, it is easy to imagen a pyramid fitting inside.Read more
