    The town of Alberobello is a UNESCO site famous for the trullo buildings found here. These buildings were originally made without mortar, which is why they have such a unique design.

    Why no mortar? The count who ruled this part of Italy didn’t want to pay taxes to the Spanish viceroy of the Kingdom of Naples, so the buildings were built in such a way as to not be permanent.
