    We have wanted to come to Nazare since we saw the huge waves in the surfing competition's that are held here. The waves are some of the biggest ever seen anywhere in the world, some reaching over 100ft. The town is split in two with the upper part high on top of the cliff and the main lower part with a massive golden sand beach both sides. There is a venicular railway that takes you up from the lower end. There is a famous lighthouse at the top which you can have a look around, and is a great vantage point from which to watch the surfers from.
