    Canterbury

    Our first stop on our grand tour takes us to the park and ride at new dover road, it's a perfect first stop as they cater for motorhomes. There is a elsan and waste water drain as well as fresh water all for £8 for the night including bus into Canterbury. We walked as its such a lovely day.   • Watten

    We decided to head inland for our first stop over in the town Aire at Watten. It's a free Aire provided by the town right on the Canal which runs through the town. There are service's for emptying, but you have to pay for fresh water and electric which we didn't need. The town has a nice high street with a few restaurants and bars, we walked up above it, to a windmill with a great viewpoint of the surrounding area, sun only came out a couple of times, but it was warm enough.Read more

  • Renescure

    We checked into a campsite for a overnight stop which will give us the opportunity to charge everything up and have a good shower. It's called Le Bloemstraete camping and its a small and friendly site, the owner is one of the nicest frenchman we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The Village has a walking route to follow, we also walked a circular route that took in another village, on the way we had about 20 Porsche racing past us on the country roads which was fun to watch, weather today has been greatRead more

  • cappy village, Somme

    We moved south slightly yesterday to a lovely Camping car Mon Village campsite, surrounded by trees, and close by the somme canal. There are bicycles and canoe's for hire, but we opted to take a hike. Today we are going for another hike on the canal before coming back for a BBQ later. Tomorrow we will continue our journey south.Read more

  • Laon

    We moved on to Laon yesterday, and found a great free parkup just outside the Citi wall. Laon has an impressive cathedral, it's 100 metres long and took only 30 years to build. Laon is a beautiful place to walk around, with lot's of places to eat. We had a quiet night and hope to move on today somewhere south of Riems in the Champagne regionRead more

  • Lunch stop and hike

    We moved on again heading south but decided to stop for lunch at a lake called la bievre. After lunch we decided to go for a hike as the weather was nice, it's a great place as there are lots of trails to choose from, being also right next to a Centre Parc.Read more

    On our drive down to Epernay, we have found a great free Aire with great views and all the services, in the lovely village of St Imoges.   • Sezanne

    We tried to visit Epernay after leaving St Imoges, but it was rammed so we couldn't park. We decided to head for the town of Sezanne, we stopped at a free Aire in the centre with free electric points. The weather was against us so spent most of the day in the motorhome but did manage an hour walking around the centre.Read more

  • Chablis

    We headed for Troyes but couldn't find a place to park so moved on to Chablis, we are on a Camping Car park Mon Village. Its just a short walk along the river to the centre of the village with all the Champagne houses. We had a look round before returning to the motorhome to chill.Read more

  • Druyes-les-Belles-Fontaines

    We arrived here after our stop in Touche, And what a find it turned out to be, our favourite so far, The village stands in the shadow of Le château fort,. We are in the car park just outside the gate house which also doubles up as a motorhome Aire. Last night we had a Dutch couple for neighbours. The village itself has a picture perfect stream running alongside it. There u numerous hiking opportunities right from our parkup. The Aire itself is spotless with electricity and water available for free and clean toilets open.Read more

  • Auxerre

    We moved on to the city of Auxerre to do a bit of sightseeing for a few ours, there is plenty to do as it's one of the biggest cities in the region, we parked up by the river and walked into the centre. After lunch we moved onto Touche which is a pretty town, with a large church above the centre. They have a good market on a Saturday. After a walk around we moved on to the most amazing village called Druyes-les-Belles-Fontaines. Its the prettiest village I can ever remember visiting.     We decided to go on a campsite for the evening in Toulon , its next to the river Arroux and we bagged a spot right on the river bank. On our way down here we stopped for a walkabout at Chateau chinon, which is known for its red wine.Read more

  • chalmazel Jeansagniere

    We left our Aire and headed up into the mountains driving to a ski resort of Chalmazel for a stroll around. We found a great parkup which would be great for a night or two as there are loads of well marked trails to walk with great views. As the weather wasn't looking the best we are going to move on.Read more

  • Champeix

    After an enjoyable drive over the mountains and nearly getting stuck in a tiny village we ended up in an Aire in Champeix. The Aire is right next to some great trails so the next day we went on a lovely hike to a mountain village with a old chateau overlooking the valley . By chance as we were following a circular trail when we came upon what looked like some kind of abandoned Hobbit village. Its made up of 140 caves that were probably used for wine storage but now most are abandoned but some are used to store the local cheese made in the village of saint-jullienRead more

  • Espinas

    We arrived in the afternoon to our highly anticipated stay at Tours du Tarn Cycling which is a holiday business owned by our nephew and his family. On arrival we were given the option of staying in the luxury Hut complete with hot tub, we didn't need to be asked twice. We have had three days of being looked after by Marcus and his wife Charlotte and her Sister Mel and husband Jim, it's been great to catch up with everyone including Charlotte and Mel's mom and dad Michael and Marilyn we will be sad to be leaving.Read more

  • Bruniquel

    After leaving Espinas, we are heading for the Mediterranean coast, but we only travelled 35km before we decided to stop for the night at the Aire in the pretty village of Bruniquel. It is a medieval town with a chateau and castle next to each other on a vantage point at the top of a cliff overlooking the valley. After exploring we found a nice circular hike that took us back to our motorhome.Read more

    We found a well positioned Aire in Albi which was perfect for exploring the city. We are not a fan of big cities but Albi has a beautiful centre with a huge cathedral with a very impressive tower and lots of architecture everywhere we looked.Read more

  • Homps

    We stopped overnight at a camping car Aire in Homps. There is a nice marina next to the site and the midi canal for hiking also a lake that allows swimming. Not much in the village itself a couple of restaurants and a shop.Read more

  • Portiragnes

    We finally made it to the Mediterranean for our next stop at a CCP Aire at Portraignes. The Aire is well positioned for the beach which also has a great restaurant and beach bar for a sundowner. The weather has been really nice and warm since we got to the far south.Read more

  • Laroque des Alberes

    We decided to stay in a CCP Aire in the village of Laroque des alberes for a couple of nights to enable us to go hiking in the mountains close by, the village is very pretty with plenty of little restaurants and bars. Overlooking the village is a old castle.Read more

    We finally crossed the border into Spain and decided to stay at the Aire in the resort of Roses. It's a nice resort with a good beaches and a pretty marina with a castle overlooking. We had a nice hike to the next resort and a walk upto the castle.Read more
