    We headed towards Normandy from Calais and our first stop was an aire in a great spot right on the cliff's above the biggest beach we have ever seen. There is a nice cliff side walk to Le Portel taking in a lighthouse and fort. In the evening we watched the sun set with a glass or two of cider, We had a quiet night at this Aire before moving on.En savoir plus

  • Saint Valery sur Somme

    We moved along the coast to Saint Valery and found the town Aire. It was rammed by the time we arrived but managed to find a place. The town itself sits on an estuary across from Le Crotoy. Its a bank holiday in France today and the place was full of locals enjoying the weather. Saint Valery has a pretty marina with steam trains that take you all the way to Crotoy. We had a nice walk along the river and over the other side to the marches.,Then a tour of the town. next day we explored the estuary and around the medieval part of the town.   • Mesnieres en bray

    We travelled inland to our next overnight stop, at the beautiful village of mesnieres en bray. The Aire is free with water and waste emptying facilities provided. The village is small but very pretty with a stunning church and chateau at its centre. There is also a very good Greenway which goes all the way to Dieppe. We walked it on both days taking in a few villages along the way but Dieppe at 40km is to far for us.En savoir plus

  • Le Bec Hellouin

    For our next stopover we found a parking area where motorhomes are allowed to overnight in the stunning village of Le Bec Hellouin. It has a large church just across from a large monastery abbey which is still in use. We had a look around the grounds which are very well kept and offer a stunning backdrop for the village. There is also a Greenway next to our parking which we hiked along to the next town.En savoir plus

  • Bayeux

    On our way to our next stopover we decided to visit Bayeux for a few hours, we parked up at the war museum and headed for the town centre. Bayeux is home to the most amazing cathedral, which we visited after strolling round the town. The town is also home to the largest commonwealth war cementry, as it is Victory in Europe day we had to visit. We were so glad we did as the place is simply stunning and is kept in mint condition, a credit to the commonwealth war graves commission.En savoir plus

  • Port En Bessin

    6–7 mai, France ⋅ 🌬 11 °C

    Our stop for tonight takes us to the town of Port En Bessin. Its a working fishing port that has a nice town front with a harbour. It is famous for being the place where the british brought in a temporary fuel pipe line for the DDay landings. The commandos who first landing here came under serious firepower as the German defences were almost impregnable. The commando did successfully took over the town but not without heavy losses, its a fascinating story and really sad. We did a 6 mile hike around the area which we followed using the Alltrails app.En savoir plus

  • Isigny sur Mer

    7–8 mai, France ⋅ 🌬 12 °C

    We had a quiet night here at a free aire with services, its a small town that is famous as being where the Disney family originated from. The town has a beautiful Marie building in its centre. We had a few walks around in the afternoon and morning before moving on.En savoir plus

  • American War Memorial Omaha

    We decided to visit the American war memorial and we were so glad we did, what an amazing place, we spent a good 3 hours here as there is so much to see, there is a brilliant exhibition covering the allied DDay landings which we thoroughly enjoyed and found it fascinating and thought provoking. We also walked onto the beach, if you ever get the chance to come to this area its well worth a visit.En savoir plus

  • Picauville

    8–10 mai, France ⋅ 🌬 13 °C

    We moved inland to the CCP Aire at Picauville, this CCP aire is the best one we have been to, it has brand new showers cleaned every morning, its more like a campsite than an aire. We had a great view of the marshes and spotted lots of stork's flying above us. The town has plenty of shops and there are a few hiking trails dotted around which we followed.En savoir plus

  • Le Haye Du Puits

    11–13 mai, France ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

    We found this quite Aire on search for sites, its not far from the beach park up, but is close to a nice town with good facilities. The Aire is free with water and waste emptying free of charge, its quite and has a nice view of an old medieval tower. There is a Greenway on an old railway line which goes coast to coast . We used it to go on a couple of good circuler walks.En savoir plus

  • Mont Saint Michel

    Last stop before Brittany, and as we had never visited here we thought it was about time we did. We used the CCP aire thats about 5km from Mont Saint Michel but there is a good path taking you along the river towards the sea. Its still busy even though it's a week day but not too bad and we had a nice day there and would recommend coming and seeing it yourself if you've not been before.En savoir plus

  • Saint Malo

    We finally made it to Brittany and our first port of call is the fortified town of Saint Malo. This is an amazing place to visit there is so much to see. We used the park and ride and walked into the town as its not that far. The weather is sunny so Saint Malo looked fabulous. It must be one of the best kept fortified towns in France. We spent half a day walking around before moving on to our overnight stop.En savoir plus

  • Plesin

    After our day in Saint Malo, we needed somewhere close to stay overnight so we checked Search for sites and found a free aire at a Village called Plesin. The Aire is quite nice in a quiet area, there is a Greenway right next to the Aire that is great for hikes, we where worn out from the day in Saint Malo so had a short walk and settled down for the evening before moving on.En savoir plus

  • Pleherel plage

    16–17 mai, France ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

    We headed for a CCP Aire just along the coast from our last stop, we are enjoying the north Brittany coastline so much that we are exploring as much as we can, the Aire is well placed for the beautiful beaches in the area and the coastal paths that run alongside the cliffs. We took a hike to the lighthouse on the headland and climbed to the top for some fabulous views.En savoir plus

  • Trevou Treguignec

    18–19 mai, France ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

    We had intended to stop at a riverside Aire in the town of Treguier but it was full so moved on to Trevou and parked in a CCP Aire right next to a stunning beach. This stretch of coastline just seems to get better and better. We enjoyed hike along the Gr34 coastal path and discovering beautiful bays along the way.En savoir plus

  • St Jean du Doigt

    19–21 mai, France ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

    We headed for the Aire in the pretty village of St Jean du Doigt unfortunately it was closed when we got there so carried on 1km to the coast and parked up on the cliff with views over the beach and a nice sunset in the evening right on the Gr34 coastal path. We loved it so much that we stayed for two nights. The village has some stunning houses and it was nice walking around looking at all the buildings. There is another village close by that has a good market on a Tuesday.En savoir plus

  • Cleder

    21–23 mai, France ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

    Moving along the North Brittany coast we found a CCP aire in a great location right next to the coastal path and a lovely beach. This part of Brittany is our favourite stop of this trip so far, so we stayed for a couple of nights to give us enough time to explore. We hiked along the Gr34 coastal path in both directions and passed lots of beautiful beaches with small boats moored in the bays. The weather has held up and we are enjoying plenty of sunshine.En savoir plus

  • Le Faou

    We headed inland as the weather was not as good so we took shelter in a Ccp aire alongside the river in Le Faou. The Aire is in a good spot and is close to the small town centre with its Church and restaurant's and pretty cobbled streets. We had a nice walk along the river and the weather stayed dry.En savoir plus

    We were recommended this stopover by a lovely British couple we met on our travels a couple of weeks ago, and what a lovely village it is! We stayed at the CCP Aire in the village which was not the best but ok for one night.
