We moved on a about 20km to Sisteron. We found a Aire close to the town. Sisteron has a nice medieval town with a amazing citadel sitting high above the town. Even though it was 36c we climbed up and paid to visit it. The views from the Ramparts are fabulous, we were able to walk around all the areas it was well worth the entrance fee.Read more

    Jun 26–27, 2025 in France ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

We drove along the French Alps to reach a beautiful village with a free Aire with the best views of any we have stayed on. The village has a nice centre with just a few shops and a couple of bars. The hiking is incredible around here and we did a couple that took us above the village and onto the mountain. You are only allowed to stay for one night but we will definitely come back as it's one of our favourites.Read more

  • Puy Saint Martin

    Jun 27–28, 2025 in France ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

After an amazing drive through the French Alps we arrived at the village of Puy Saint Martin. There is a great Aire provided by the village which is free and is more akin to a campsite with individual hedged places for privacy with a great view of the surrounding countryside. We went for a nice hike in the hills overlooking the village and chilled out in the evening, we had the place to ourselves!Read more

    Jun 30–Jul 1, 2025 in France ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

We stayed at another Ccp Mon village Aire which had good facilities and is close to the village of Town of Massiac. It's too hot to do much in the day so we managed a walk around the town late afternoon but still too hot for much walking but the town has everything you need, and I believe there are good hiking opportunities should we pass this way again.Read more

  • Benevent l Abbeye

    Jul 1–2, 2025 in France ⋅ ☀️ 35 °C

What a find this free Aire was, its perched on the top of a beauty spot looking out for miles, the sunsets are stunning. The Aire is provided free by the local village with even electricity free. We had the place to ourselves, the village has a good Boulangerie and the tabac also does a decent 16euro menu of the day. There is a large abbey in the centre you can tell the locals really look after the place. There are great walking opportunities with lots of shaded parts. Definitely one of our favourites.Read more
