A continuation of the canal walk whilst planning for the next big trip with Andy . We start where we finished last time - Warwick Avenue tube. Whilst waiting I grab a coffee at the old cab shelter and there’s a disturbed person shouting about what I don’t know - could be just a disturbed person or she could be just having an argument on the phone ! She’s not happy!
We set off down Little Venice and the rain has stopped , passing Crockers Folly pub and happily discover that the walk by the canal is open and the gate unlocked !
A variety of barges are parked permanently off the grid and we head into Regent’s Park where there are some grand mansions which are actually new but styled !
Blow Up Bridge emerges ahead - famous due to being accidentally blown up by a barge full of gunpowder around 1904 , with the pillars put back sometimes back to front and marked by old gouged tow ropes cuts.
We pass between the parts of the zoo and the old Snowden Aviary I visited in the 60s which is now vacant possibly awaiting some apes as new residents!
On ahead we reach Camden Lock which is now populated by multi food outlets and tourists! Old Dingwalls music venue is now swamped by it all!
Away from the bustle we head down to King’s Cross and pass the old gasometers which have been preserved now as ritzy modern flats !
And we finish with a beer in the Parcel yard pub just behind the strangely busy platform 9 and 3/4! Weird !
Now to plan for the big one !もっと詳しく
