    Penzance to Porthleven

    June 24, 2018 in England ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Leave at 9am. Beautiful day if not bit hot as no breeze. Walk to Marazion for coffee then onto Praa sands for lunch. Boots off to walk along the sea edge for this stretch. 15 miles later arrive at Harbour Inn at 5pm, hot and tired and needing to rehydrate with lime sodas rather than customary dirty beer! Out for dinner to Rick Stein's restaurant where Julie and Deborah surprise us with Champagne to celebrate our coming civil partnership!Read more

  • Porthleven to Lizard Village

    June 25, 2018 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Simon dashes off to Helston to buy new boots as old ones disintegrated yesterday. We leave the comfort of the Harbour Inn to head for Poldhu to meet Simon for coffee. Thwarted by a landslide and closed path. Advised to follow a route that appears longer but then find opportunity for off piste adventure and cut through a field to join original track saving 30 plus mins walking. Ice cream in Poldhu and onto Mullion cove for crab sand which lunch. Feeling very weary as only 2 hours sleep yesterday. Long slog onto Kynance Cove where Deb & John have bathed. Finally arrive Top House Inn at Lizard by 5.30 pm. Find Simon & Penguin on dirty beers plus some. Eat in pub and bed early. XRead more

  • Coverack to Mawman Smith

    June 28, 2018 in England ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

More beautiful weather. Amazing to walk with no rain jackets or fleeces. Heatwave all over UK. Another 13miles and excitement of crossing estuaries. First one we just made it across as the tide was sweeping in and second one across the Helston didn’t happen as easterly winds cancelled the ferry. To many of us great relief to sit and have ice cream/ beer and wait for a taxi!Read more

  • Mawman Smith to Falmouth

    June 29, 2018 in England ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

Last day of walking and at last feet more comfortable. Nasty blister under little toe causing lot of discomfort. Our hotel owner drops us off at Helford gap and we walk the relatively short distance to Falmouth. Stop at .xxxxx for lunch in beachside cafe then onto Falmouth. Dirty beers, buy Mark H bday card then showered before dinner - final tribal - in African restaurant. Yum meal but awake now at 04.45 with indigestion!Read more
