• Blenheim Palace, Diddly squat farm.

    22. juli, England ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Today we clocked up lots of steps sightseeing around Blenheim Palace and Diddly squat Farm.
The main part of the palace building outside was being restored so we didn’t get the full outside effect but they opened up another couple of State Rooms for the visitors as compensation. This included the incredible room where King Charles met with President Zelenskyy recently. The Winston Churchill display and history of Lord Marlborough who commissioned the Palace originally was outstanding. The pipe organ and the library filled with 1st edition books was fabulous - even though I think books should be used, otherwise what’s the point of them? 🤷🏻‍♀️😊 The gardens are filled with vegetables and flowers as the palace is still the home of The 12 Duke of Marlborough! It’s fascinating looking at the early tapestries, cradles for the babies, wedding dresses, lounges, guns, stables, side saddles, dining tables, jewellery, beds, and living quarters of yesteryear. 3 hours can pass very quickly! We enjoyed the garden maize, gardens and palace cricket field very much.
After that we drove to the famous Jeremy Clarkson Diddly squat farm. I haven’t seen his show but the others have enjoyed some episodes. It was quite a line up to get in but fun and great to see.
We came home and enjoyed a drink and snacks in the garden 🪴
We had a restful couple of hours before walking to a 1000 year old pub. It’s the oldest in Britain. Really special. Very grateful for the opportunity to see such a beautiful part of Gods creation. Such lush countryside and beauty everywhere you look.
