Stage 5: croda da lago to Staulanza

So for the late updates. I’ve had a rough time of it since yesterday.

We made it to Rifugio Staulamza —it’s lovely!—and quickly made some calls to figure out what we should do about the impending storm that is forecast to hit on Friday.

It’s weather, and we know it can change, but we don’t want to get stuck in the storm and have to try and walk out where there is no choice but to hike. The trails here are mostly loose rock, rarely flat, and they are sketchy enough under dry conditions that hiking on them when wet just isn’t my cup of tea. It’s a bit of a disappointment, but I’m not incredibly bummed. I’ve hiked A LOT these past 5 days, and I’ve hit the highlights—the most epic hikes with the most epic views—so I’m very proud and content with what I’ve achieved so far. 😊

I’m exhausted but invigorated by the first proper shower in three days, so I am going to sit outside, have a cup of coffee, and catch y’all up on the past two days just as soon as I can.
