Die Rückkehr aufs Schiff - unser Zuhause ⛵

Um 6:20 Uhr klingelte der Wecker. Wir hatten etwa 1 h Zeit für das Packen, Aufräumen und Frühstücken eingeplant. Gegen 7:20 Uhr müssten wir nämlich unser Airbnb verlassen, wenn wir rechtzeitig den Bus nach Sixaola vom Ortskern Puerto Viejos erwischen wollten. Da wir noch etwas Budget in unserer Expi-Kasse übrig hatten, war der eigentliche Plan, zwei Uber zu bestellen und so bis zur Grenzstadt Sixaola zu fahren. So würden wir uns nicht nur den Weg zur Busstation mitsamt unserem Gepäck sparen, sondern auch noch einer Busfahrt mit allen anderen ExpiGruppen aus dem Weg gehen. Allerdings war nicht klar, ob so früh bereits genügend Uber-Fahrer operierten. Um 7:20 Uhr bestellten Tilly und ich dann jeweils probehalber per App einen Uber. Innerhalb weniger Minuten wurden beide Fahrten zugesagt, sodass wir uns gegen viertel vor 8 in zwei Autos Richtung Sixaola wiederfanden. Etwa 40 min dauerte die Fahrt und wir kamen gegen 8:25 Uhr in Sixaola an. Daher war es nicht verwunderlich, dass wir mit weitem Abstand die ersten in der Grenzstadt waren. Wir suchten uns eine Sitzgelegenheit in der Nähe der Grenzkontrolle und nutzten die Zeit für Verpflegungseinkäufe und gemeinsames Eis essen. Da wir uns während der Expi-Tage immer wieder einen Spaß daraus machten, dass die erste Gruppe, die einen Ort oder das Airbnb vor der anderen erreicht, der anderen Gruppe ein Eis ausgeben müsse, wurden diese Wettschulden so nun endlich beglichen 🍨
Kurz nachdem wir das Eis geleert hatten, kam auf einmal Carlos mit seinem Pickup um die Ecke. Auf seiner Ladefläche befand sich der bestellte Kaffee beider Schiffe sowie noch extra eingepackte 250 kg (in 5 kg Säcke) für eine Rösterei in Deutschland ☕
Da der Bus aus Puerto Viejo Verspätung hatte, kamen alle anderen Gruppen erst nach 10:00 Uhr in Sixaola an. Nach Ankunft wurde die harmonische Atmosphäre und das Ende unserer Expizeit von viel Hektik und einer durchaus gereizten Stimmung beherrscht. Kaspar und Maxim kümmerten sich um die Ausreise, während wir anderen damit beschäftigt waren, den Kaffee in unseren Taschen zu verstauen. Nach einigen bürokratischen Hürden ging es dann gegen 12:30 Uhr costa-ricanischer Zeit (Panama: 13:30 Uhr) über die Brücke nach Panama. Nach einem verhältnismäßig schnellen Check-In liefen wir zu unserem Bus, verstauten das Gepäck und fuhren los nach Almirante. In Almirante hatten wir Schnellboote zur Regina Maris gebucht, die gegen 16 Uhr ablegen sollten. Pünktlich um 16:00 Uhr waren wir dann da - aber leider nur eines der drei Schnellboote. Also hieß es auch hier wieder: Warten ⌛
Mit dem letzten Schnellboot erreichten wir unser schwimmendes Zuhause gegen 17:30 Uhr und nutzten den Rest des Tages zum Aus- und Einräumen, dem Kennenlernen von Nicola und Rainer und vielen weiteren organisatorischen Absprachen 🗣️

Mein persönliches Highlight:
Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm, in der wir gemeinsam Eis aßen, uns viele lustige Dinge erzählten oder Machetenkämpfe im Supermarkt austrugen 🤜🏽🤛🏽

The return to the ship - our home ⛵

The alarm clock rang at 6:20 am. We had planned about 1 hour to pack, tidy up and have breakfast. We would have to leave our Airbnb around 7:20 am if we wanted to catch the bus to Sixaola from the center of Puerto Viejos on time. As we still had some budget left in our Expi fund, the actual plan was to order two Ubers and drive to the border town of Sixaola. This would not only save us the walk to the bus station with our luggage, but would also save us a bus ride with all the other expi groups. However, it wasn't clear whether there were enough Uber drivers operating so early. At 7:20 a.m., Tilly and I each ordered an Uber via the app on a trial basis. Within a few minutes, both rides were confirmed, so we found ourselves in two cars heading for Sixaola around a quarter to 8. The journey took around 40 minutes and we arrived in Sixaola at around 8:25. It was therefore not surprising that we were by far the first in the border town. We looked for a place to sit near the border control and used the time to buy some food and eat ice cream together. As we always made a joke of it during the Expi days that the first group to reach a place or the Airbnb before the other group would have to buy the other group an ice cream, these betting debts were finally settled 🍨
Shortly after we had emptied the ice cream, Carlos suddenly came around the corner in his pickup truck. On the back of his truck was the coffee ordered by both ships, as well as an extra 250 kg (in 5 kg bags) for a roasting plant in Germany ☕
As the bus from Puerto Viejo was late, all the other groups did not arrive in Sixaola until after 10:00. Upon arrival, the harmonious atmosphere and the end of our expedition time was dominated by a lot of hustle and bustle and a thoroughly irritable mood. Kaspar and Maxim took care of the departure, while the rest of us were busy stowing the coffee in our bags. After a few bureaucratic hurdles, we crossed the bridge to Panama at around 12:30 pm Costa Rican time (Panama: 1:30 pm). After a relatively quick check-in, we walked to our bus, stowed our luggage and set off for Almirante. In Almirante we had booked speedboats to Regina Maris, which were due to leave at around 4pm. We were there on time at 4 p.m. - but unfortunately only one of the three speedboats. So once again it was a case of waiting ⌛
We reached our floating home on the last speedboat at around 5:30 p.m. and used the rest of the day to unpack and pack up, get to know Nicola and Rainer and make lots of other organizational arrangements 🗣️

My personal highlight:
The calm before the storm, when we ate ice cream together, told each other lots of funny things or had machete fights in the supermarket 🤜🏽🤛🏽
