Caesarea Phillippi

Our first site today was Caesarea Phillippi which was where Jesus asked his disciples “Who do they say I am?” It was here Peter responded with “the messiah”. Jesus also gave Peter the title of “the rock” at this location as well. It was the ruin of a Roman temple and was called the Gates of Hell. What a spectacular place with the ruins still so intact. The river that comes from this place also joins up with the River Jordan which we all know is where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist.Read more
