Camino Norte, Day 18 =>Columbres

Crossed into Asturias - the longest of the four principalities on the Camino Norte. Say goodbye to Cantabria. Basque Country is already long gone.

Relatively easy day today with 10.5 miles and 1300’ascent/1040’ decent. Recovery-ish, or let’s hope it is, because we have four medium 15 mile days followed by a very Hard 19 climbing over a steep mountain. Then we’ll take a rest day.

Coming into town Diane found a cafe open for lunch serving homemade beef stew followed by chicken dinner (two meals each) and cake and wine. Like Thanksgiving. Light dinner tonight. Rest up for the journey to come. Need a nap.Read more
