A sunny morning in Keswick as we walked along the shores of Derwentwater and enjoyed looking up at Catbells and Castlecrag. It is a spectacular setting.
We also went to the Derwent pencil factory museum which was surprisingly interesting. Pencils have been made here since the 1700's due to nearby graphite mines. Anybody our age would remember Derwent, Lakeland or Cumberland pencils - they were all made at the factory here.
A 2 minute walk from our accommodation found us at the Wainwright pub and here we had a relaxing afternoon and dinner with some local ales.Read more
